‘I’m crying right now!’ MasterChef fans touched as Emelia Jackson stops to help a weeping Laura Sharrad in monster pressure test

On Sunday’s semi-final of MasterChef Australia, Laura Sharrad was left weeping when she struggled with one of the steps to create guest chef Martin Benn’s jaw-dropping ‘toffee apple’.

But it wasn’t long before fellow competitor Emilia Jackson stepped in to save the day, and helped get the 24-year-old back on track.

The sweet moment brought viewers watching from home to tears, as they shared their reactions to social media.

‘Milzy and Rey rey helping Lozzie with her apple, Why am I crying in the club right now?’ one viewer tweeted.

Another described the gesture as ‘beyond kindness’, while a third suggested Emelia deserved bonus points for helping her opponent.

A fourth viewer tweeted: ‘Okay that was cute, I love how they all help each other.’

‘Emilia, you are a sweetheart,’ said another fan rather succinctly.

During the semi-final challenge, Laura struggled to peel her apple into one long strand, which was critical to the dish at hand.

‘Deep breaths,’ Emilia said, as she stepped and explained to Laura how to use a piece of kitchen equipment.

In an interview to camera, Laura explained: ‘I honestly can’t believe that we are all fighting for a spot in a finale, and the two most selfless people I know came over and stopped what they are doing.’
