Matthew McConaughey tenderly holds his wife Camila Alves as the power couple talk giving back and raising three children for Town & Country

Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves look like the ultimate power couple as they appear on the cover of Town & Country’s Philanthropy Issue.

On the cover, Matthew, 50, tenderly holds his wife, 38, as she gazes contemplatively to her left, whilst dressed in a gold metallic dress with her hair piled into a chic bun.

Matthew looks dashing as usual in a smart beige suit as he stares unflinchingly towards the camera.

It takes two: Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves look like the ultimate power couple as they appear on the cover of Town & Country’s Philanthropy Issue

In the issue, the couple discuss raising three children together, and their charity which benefits high school students, the Just Keep Livin’ Foundation.

Just Keep Livin’ is the foundation Matthew and his wife conceived of which provides at-risk youth with exercise, nutrition tips, weekend service projects, and a gratitude practice.

The high schools participating in the program see an average 50% graduation rate, but last year all the seniors who took part in Just Keep Livin’ graduated.

Matthew wanted to serve at-risk teenagers because he felt they still had a chance to overcome their circumstances.

‘I always knew I wanted it to be kids, because I wanted the entire foundation to provide prevention before we needed a cure. High school’s the last place you can catch somebody and get them on the right track, before they no longer have to listen to a teacher or parent. If they’re screwing up in high school and do some of the same stuff after they graduate, they may go to jail—or worse,’ he explained.

Matthew’s parents divorced twice and married three times, but the actor still feels he was fortunate as a child.

Interestingly, his wife also has a very similar background – her parents married and divorced multiple times.

‘My parents were probably just saying, “I’ve had enough of you for a while. I’ll see you in a year or so.” It wasn’t a perfect upbringing, but I was in a position where I was never going to be a victim,’ he said.

Asked if she was ever at risk of going down the ‘wrong path,’ Camila replied, ‘No, though my parents did marry and divorce each other three times as well.’

‘I would call them two people extremely in love who cannot find a way to communicate. It’s all fine now. But when I was growing up, in Brazil, my mom would always extol to me and my brother the importance of giving back.’

Now Matthew and Camila have been married for seven years and share sons Levi, 11, Livingston, seven, and daughter Vida, 10.

Matthew admitted he’s more inclined to say ‘yes’ to their children than his wife.

‘From the snicker that my wife’s giving me, it seems that I’m more consistently the yes guy. She’s probably right,’ he admitted.
