Mel Greig shares her devastation as her beloved godfather dies… before posting a video of him ‘fat-shaming’ her in tribute saying ‘he was the only man allowed to’

Radio host Mel Greig has announced the tragic death of her beloved godfather.

On Thursday, the 38-year-old shared a touching video of the late gentleman alongside a statement, where she confirmed he’d passed away ‘peacefully’ aged 101.

‘Today I lost my 101 year old godfather, the only man aside from my nephew that is allowed to fat shame me,’ she wrote to accompany the footage.

Heartache: Radio host Mel Greig has shared her devastation following the tragic death of her beloved godfather

‘He was like a second dad with such a cheeky nature, he had a great innings and went peacefully. I love having a laugh at this video and how he speaks his truth I hope you have a giggle too.’

The video in question saw her godfather speaking directly to a giggling Mel, saying: ‘You look beautiful, but you are overweight.’

As Mel asked ‘Are you saying I’m fat?’ he responded: ‘You are fat, yes.’

Fans in their masses sent their condolences to Mel, with one writing: ‘Awww I’m so sorry for your tremendous loss, sending you love and hugs.’

‘So sorry to hear lovely, thinking of you and your family,’ another added.

Recently, Mel insisted she would rather be ‘happy and healthy’ than reach her goal weight of 68kg.

On Monday, she proudly showed off her ‘chins’ on Instagram and encouraged others to do the same.

‘I want to give you a daily dose of realness and I want to introduce you to my chins because it’s all about angles on social media and I’ve got four rippers,’ she said.

‘Just embrace it, don’t worry about the angles. I love my chins, you should love yours too. Let’s end of that,’ she added.

Mel also captioned the post: ‘Daily dose of keeping it real. Today I want you to meet my chins. Inspired by the @imperfectlyperfectcampaign mental health forum.’

Mel’s post comes after she accepted she may never get back to the weight she once was in her twenties and has thrown out her old garments.

She encouraged others to throw out their ‘skinny boxes’ too, and said: ‘No I didn’t get back to 68kg, and I don’t intend to.’

The cardboard box, which was labelled ‘Skinny clothes. Only open when you are back down to 68 kilos’, showed signs of wear, tear and deterioration from being in storage for so long.

Mel has openly discussed her struggle to lose weight in the past.

‘I don’t aspire to be skinny anymore, I just aspire to be happy and healthy,’ Mel wrote on Instagram last month.
