Michelle Bridges reflects on controversial pregnancy comments

Michelle Bridges apologises for her ‘ignorant and smug’ remarks about being able to get pregnant at age 45 because she’s ‘fit and healthy’

The Biggest Loser’s Michelle Bridges has apologised for past comments she made about mature pregnancies.

Michelle, who gave birth to her first child, Axel, at age 45, told Who magazine in 2015 she was able to fall pregnant at such a late stage in life because of her ‘good health’.

The remarks caused backlash, with readers branding Michelle ‘ignorant’ and ‘smug’.

The personal trainer, 50, addressed the controversy this week during an interview with The Good Chat with Anita Anabel podcast.

‘I got blasted in the media for saying that,’ she admitted.

‘There was a lot of backlash from people that had said, “I look after myself, I’ve done all of that too!”

‘I get that,’ she continued. ‘So I thought, “Okay, that was a naïve thing to say, Michelle, lesson learned.”‘

Michelle has been single for almost two years since her split with longtime partner Steve ‘Commando’ Willis in January last year.

And the Celebrity Apprentice star recently told Woman’s Day she is ‘more than content’ being on her own and focusing on her son, Axel, five.

‘He is the only man in my life,’ she said. ‘Without question. I love him to pieces.’

The former Biggest Loser trainer made a similar statement in an interview with TV Week.

‘I was getting asked by a lot of people, “Have you gone on a date yet? Have you met someone?” And the answer is nope,’ she insisted.

‘I’m not someone who’s easily offended… but personally, I don’t feel the pressure [to go on dates] because I know that the questions are coming from a good place,’ she added.

Michelle said she was enjoying life with Axel after relocating from Sydney to the NSW Southern Highlands following her break-up.

‘Life for Axel and I is pretty great since moving out of the city. We needed a change,’ she said.
