Mike Tindall is an asset to the royal family, because he connects the Firm to normal people, an expert has claimed.
The former England Rugby Pro, 42, who is married to the Queen’s eldest daughter Zara Tindall, is said to have ‘a great sense of humour’ and has made the royals more modern, according to a new documentary.
Speaking on Channel 5’s, Zara and Mike: No Nonsense Royals, which airs tonight, journalist Brenda Emmanus says that Zara and Mike are ‘keen to do their own thing’ and have sponsorship deals ‘carefully crafted to support ‘brand Tindall’.
The couple, who live together on Princess Anne’s Gatecombe Estate, welcomed their third child Lucas Philip Tindall in March and brother to Mia, seven, and Lena, two.

‘Mike Tindall has been an asset to the royal family in that he’s a connection to normal people,’ Brenda said.
‘He has a great sense of humour and he’s made them a very modern family.
‘They live their own lives and make their own decisions, the public doesn’t pay for them. They’re practical and accessible, the most normal and delightful couple.
‘They’re keen to do their own thing and pay their own way. Sponsorship is carefully crafted to enhance brand Tindall, and they’re making the most to be seen as the embodiment of country life,’ she added.

Mike and Zara wed in 2011, three months after Zara’s cousin Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.
The couple, who aren’t working royals, keep a relatively low profile despite their status as professional sports people at the top of their relative fields.
The 20th-in-line to the throne met Mike in 2003 in a bar in Sydney, Mike was in Australia for the Rugby World Cup while Zara was taking a gap year.

In the near two-decades since the couple have got married and welcomed three children, while building up their success as a brand.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond added in the documentary: ‘Mike is his own business.
‘He can earn a lot of money on the after dinner circuit, it’s a very lucrative source of income for him.
‘He uses his name and success as a rugby player for endorsement deals,’ she added.
