Miranda Lambert joins scripted country music podcast Make It Up As We Go

Singer Miranda Lambert has signed on as a ‘featured cast member’ and as an executive producer on the scripted country music podcast Make It Up As We Go.

Lambert, 36, will be part of a star-studded cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, Craig Robinson, Bobby Bones and more.

The podcast hails from Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt and singer-songwriter Scarlett Burke, which will debut on the iHeartPodcast Networks on October 1.

The scripted podcast will follow a young singer/songwriter, played by Burke, as she tries to make it in the music industry.

The show will, ‘unravels Burke’s own personal journey navigating the writer rooms of Nashville, which is where the songs are born, and in turn – finding her own voice along the way,’ according to a press release.

Lambert said, ‘I’m excited to be a part of this project because it is an authentic story that shows the challenges female singer/songwriters face within the industry.’

Audio Up founder/CEO Jared Gutstadt, who co-founded Audio Up with actor Dennis Quaid, called the podcast, ‘the crown jewel of our slate within Audio Up.’

‘We want to tell stories amplified by songs by world class writers and also put out songs from world class writers amplified by amazing stories. The development that Scarlett and I went into during this process is one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had in my life,’ Gutstadt said.

‘Collaborating with best in class script writers, songwriters and vocal talent is what we strive for…This is truly going to be another unique first for the podcast space,’ he added.

The trailer for the podcast series features Bobby Bones, who will be featured in the series, explaining more about what it’s all about.

‘I think so many people wonder what actually happens behind-the-scenes in Nashville. How do songs become written? How do songs become hits?’ Bones said.

Burke, who co-created the podcast with Gutstadt, revealed that she told him she sends her dad the ‘unedited work tapes’ from each session, so he can hear the conversations.

‘We realized that maybe more people might want to hear that story,’ Burke added.

The show also features songwriter Nicole Galyon, who said that working on this project, ‘felt like another day of creativity.’

‘I help her find her voice literally, and, through the journey she’s on, metaphorically,’ Robinson said.

All eight episodes of Make It Up As We Go will debut on Audio Up and the iHeartPodcasts Network on October 1.
