Moment driver is almost run over by his own BMW as he tries to stop thieves stealing it after he left the keys in the ignition on garage forecourt

The incident was caught on camera in dramatic video footage and shows the driver of a dark saloon car trying to leap in front of it when he realises it’s being stolen.
The theft took place at a BP garage with a Marks and Spencer Simply Food franchise in leafy north London suburb Arnos Grove on Wednesday this week.
The middle aged driver is thought to have left his keys in the ignition when he nipped into the store to pay for petrol.

He was apparently being watched by a team of thieves in another dark saloon car lurking on the forecourt.
Once the man entered the store one leapt out and jumped into the driver’s seat of his car.
It was at this point the owner realised what was happening and tried to stand in front of the car to stop it being taken.
But the reckless thief carried on accelerating so he was forced to jog backwards to avoid being crushed under it. He can be seen shouting in dismay as he jumps to safety.
Then the man is endangered for a second time -as the other car thought to have been driven by the thief’s accomplice also makes off at high speed, narrowly missing the victim.
The footage has been widely shared on local social media groups.

One poster wrote: ‘Be careful out there. This was at the Arnos BP/M&S on Wednesday when this poor bloke left his keys in the ignition for 30 seconds.’
Another wrote: ‘Shocking! He could have been killed.’
The Met Police said they didn’t have any record of the incident.
But a BP source said the company was aware and ‘was co-operating with the ongoing police investigation’.
