This is the hilarious moment a fleeing suspect and the police officer in hot pursuit both fall over as they try to vault a hedge.

Police dash-cam footage captured the suspect falling at the end of a dramatic car chase in Leicester.

The police officer then suffers the same fate as he leaps over the waist-high hedge to try and catch the man – who was suspected of stealing a car.

During a car chase, the suspect swerved in front of police cars and crashes through traffic cones at the roadside near parkland. 

He then abandons the car and makes a run for it, with his failed attempt at hurdling captured on police dashcam as they pull up behind him.   

The man, wearing a green anorak and a hat, tumbles over the hedge and disappears into the darkness.

Seconds later the firearms officer pursuing him also attempts the jump over the hedge, but catches his foot and goes down. 

Leicestershire Police confirmed they eventually managed to arrest the man following the chase, where the vehicles hit speeds of up to 55mph, last week.

The force’s special ops team tweeted: ‘So last week A team had a pursuit with a recently stolen car.

‘The driver decided they were better off on foot diving into cover.

‘Quickly detained by the pursuing authorised firearms officer.

‘Driver arrested and charged.’
