More heartbreak for Kerri-Anne Kennerley: Studio 10 star reveals her beloved dog Digger is MISSING

Veteran TV presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley became emotional on Thursday, when she revealed live on Studio 10 that her dog had gone missing.

The 66-year-old was taking part in a regular segment when she stopped abruptly and shared the upsetting news with viewers.

Pulling out her mobile phone, she said: ‘Sorry, my dog’s lost, so I’m a bit distracted.’

She added: ‘Some workmen came, the garage is open so he’s gone out.’

She went on to say that she was being ‘unprofessional’ by talking about the news on air during an unrelated segment.

Fortunately, she learned later in the broadcast that Digger had been found at a nearby restaurant.

‘By the way, Digger has been found at a restaurant!’ Kerri-Anne announced.

She said the animal had been found at Chiswick Woollahra, prompting fellow panellist Joe Hildebrand to joke: ‘Did he order a smashed avo on toast?’

Kerri-Anne said she was ‘very relived’ that her dog had been found safe and well.

It comes after Kerri-Anne was made redundant from Studio 10 earlier this month.

She fought back tears as she bid farewell to viewers on August 12, less than 24 hours after being sacked from the network as a cost-cutting measure.

Kerri-Anne, who was axed from Channel 10 along with 25 other staff members, appeared to shake with emotion while addressing her departure.

She acknowledged that the coronavirus pandemic had made it necessary to tighten the budget, and thanked her friends and colleagues for their support.

‘I just know I’m back on the “lazy Susan” of television. Yeah, it’s very, very tough for a lot of people,’ she began.

‘But I’ve always worked on a personal level, the Charles Darwin theory that says to survive you don’t need to be the most intelligent, you don’t have to be the strongest, but you have to be, to survive, the most adaptable,’ she said.

Kerri-Anne, who joined Studio 10 as a part-time panellist in September 2018, went on to say just how much she treasures the friendships she’s made along the way.

‘I’ve had a ball! And the reason why I’ve got this outfit today is because, if you’re being run out of town, get in front of the parade or get in front of the crowd and make it look like a parade!’ she added with a salute.

Kerri-Anne graciously said that she accepts losing her job if it means she is saving the livelihoods of her colleagues.

‘Let’s face it. We’ve got to get down to logic here. It is what it is. It’s not the first time, unfortunately. Companies do these sort of cuts to make the business better, which in the long run saves a lot more jobs,’ she said.

She will depart the network next month, but remains under contract at Channel 10 on ‘gardening leave’ until the end of the year.
