Delivery driver gets called a chav by job interviewer who accidentally sent him an email meant for a colleague

  • Karl McCartney, 25, applied for a job at Drive2Recruit and thought it went well
  • He was then sent an email in which his interviewer called him a ‘real chaver’
  • Mr McCartney claims the company has ignored his emails and won’t apologise

A delivery driver was called a chav by his potential new boss in an email they accidentally sent to him instead of a colleague.

Karl McCartney, 25, from Newcastle, had applied for a job at Drive2Recruit and was told during a phone interview that he would be sent a ‘starter pack’ of forms to fill in.

However, the interviewer instead sent him an email she had meant to send her colleague in which she called Mr McCartney a chav.

The email, seen by The Sun, read: ‘Spoke to him 28/9/20 – a real chaver – only contact him if we need a multi-dropper – would be no good for bells.’

Mr McCartney has been desperately looking for a job for the past six months after he was made redundant as a UPS driver.

He said that receiving the email really knocked his confidence and that Drive2Recruit have ignored subsequent emails he sent the company enquiring about the insult.

He added that a woman on the phone simply told him the email wasn’t for him and she didn’t apologise.

Mr McCartney was left baffled by the encounter. He told The Sun: ‘I don’t know why they called me a chav, I didn’t even meet them in person.

‘I thought the interview had gone well. She said she’d send me a starter pack but then I got this email instead. I was shocked.’

Drive2Recruit has refused to comment on the email.

A spokesman said they had tried to resolve the issue with Karl directly, which he denies.
