Nick Cordero’s wife Amanda Kloots says Broadway star ‘doing okay’ after tracheotomy as he remains in coma during COVID-19 battle

Broadway star Nick Cordero continues his fight against COVID-19 in an intensive care unit at a LA hospital.

His wife Amanda Kloots has been keeping his fans informed of how he’s doing and visits the medical center every day even though she has to send greetings to the actor from outside due to the coronavirus restrictions. 

And on Sunday, his wife Amanda gave yet another update, sharing that Nick, 41, who remains on a ventilator, is stable after undergoing a tracheotomy.

‘He is doing okay,’ the fitness trainer, 38, said on her Instagram Story. ‘His vent settings are down which is good. That’s a really great sign that his breathing is going well.’

Kloots said that Nick is getting nutrition through a feeding tube and that’s helping him.

Nick has been in the hospital for 32 days and is in a medically-induced coma.

He was first hospitalized for pneumonia on April 1 and subsequently tested positive for the nouvel coronavirus.

Blood-clotting issues forced doctors to amputate his right leg and his lungs have suffered severe damage due to the respiratory disease. 

Amanda, though, who has rallied the musical theater community around her husband, remains positive. 

‘Yesterday was just basically a day of getting adjusted to the trach and seeing how he’s doing with it and kind of leveling out these settings,’ she said in her update on Sunday.

‘He’s doing well, so I’m just hoping for another kind of day of rest and recovery for Nick. I think the more days he has of this might help his brain to wake up.’

Amanda, who shares a 10-month–old son Elvis with the Rock of Ages star, has previously revealed that her husband has been part of the Remdesivir clinical trial.

The anti-viral medication has shown ‘some promise’ in treating COVOD-19 patients and has recently been approved for use on coronavirus sufferers under a doctor’s supervision. 

Over a video of a news report discussing the drug, Amanda shared on Instagram that while Nick is part of the trial, she doesn’t know if her has in fact been given the drug or if he is in the placebo group.
