Nina Dobrev and Shaun White work up a sweat together at a private gym in Santa Monica

They embarked on a relationship last year amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and are still going strong with all signs pointing to marriage.

And Nina Dobrev, 32, and her boyfriend Shaun White, 34, continued to show they could tackle anything together, as they worked up a sweat at a private gym in Santa Monica. 

The athletic outing comes amid reports that an ‘engagement is around the corner,’ per an Us Weekly insider.    

The Vampire Diaries actress showed off her slim frame in black leggings and a cropped white tank top. 

She ensured maximum support in a pair of black sneakers and tied her brown tresses back in a high ponytail. 

Nina was seen squatting with the medicine ball opposite the pro snowboarder who showed off his muscles in black shorts and an Adidas T-shirt. 

White tucked his famed red hair underneath a baseball cap and focused on his breath while working his obliques. 

And the pair were seen laughing through the pain after a few intense reps with the weighted ball before they took a breather. 

The couple continued to work their upper body strength even more by throwing it against a concrete wall afterwards. 

Though they sported face coverings while inside the gym, outside they were able to remove their masks while maintaining a safe distance from others.

She acknowledged their strength when she paid tribute to him on Valentine’s Day writing ‘happy we got “stuck together” last year and stuck it out.’ 

And in his tribute he gushed: ‘Thank you for keeping a smile on my face and being the beautiful person you are!’ 

An insider reported that their happiness may take them down a forever path after her initial attraction to his athleticism and goofy personality continues to endure. 

‘Nina and Shaun are very happy together at the moment,’ the close source said, adding that ‘[they] wouldn’t be surprised if an engagement is around the corner.’

The insider revealed that though neither were rushing down the aisle, the relationship has come a long way since they began dating last April. 

‘Nina has had a lot of relationships not work out in the past, but ever since meeting Shaun, you can tell she’s just really excited about how far this relationship has come. They’re gradually taking steps to starting a future together.’  

The Flatliners star had enjoyed a string of romances with fellow actors including Ian Somerhalder (2011-2013), and Scream Queens star Glen Powell in 2017. 

And White was in a long term relationship with rock singer Sarah Barthel but they split after five years together in 2019.
