New Zealand TV host Hilary Barry reacts to embarrassing X-RATED captioning fail during broadcast

New Zealand journalist Hilary Barry suffered an awkward technical glitch during the broadcast of TVNZ 1’s Seven Sharp last week.

On Friday, an innocent conversation between Hilary and her co-host Jeremy Wells during the evening current affairs program was incorrectly close captioned.

While turning to Jeremy to discuss ‘salmon’, the words shown on screen were actually an X-rated alternative.

While Hilary, 51, actually professed her love for salmon, the close captioning read: ‘I love semen.’

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to capture the hilarious mistake and share it to social media.

‘I feel @Hilary_Barry might need to have a word with the subtitle people,’ one Tweet read, adding a crying with laughter emoji.

'Salmon! I love salmon!' Taking the inaccurate captioning in good spirits, Hilary Tweeted that 'salmon' should have been used in place of the inaccurate word 'semen'
