Olivia Rodrigo was spotted stepping out in New York City on Friday afternoon.

The 18-year-old hitmaker appeared to be making the most of the pleasant springtime weather as she strolled along the city’s sidewalks while being accompanied by a friend.

The singer-songwriter’s outing comes on the day after the release of the music video for the single Good 4 U, which will be included on her upcoming debut studio album, entitled Sour.

Rodrigo was outfitted in an eye-catching patterned dress that featured various images of cats that were arranged across its length during her outing.

The Bizaardvark star contrasted her eye-catching clothing article with a black long-sleeve fishnet shirt and a pair of dual-toned sneakers.

The actress-turned-musician kept her typically free-flowing brunette hair tied back in a bun and positioned a set of lime green sunglasses on top of her head.

She also wore a white facial covering to keep herself protected from COVID-19 while spending time in public.

This comes after Rodrigo received a kind handwritten letter from her idol Taylor Swift following the debut of Rodrigo’s new single, Driver’s License.

The 18-year-old singer opened up to Billboard about getting a congratulatory note and a ring from Taylor, 31.

‘I don’t want to divulge too much because it’s really sweet and personal, but she talks a lot about how, I think, you make your own luck in the world,’ Olivia said.

‘And when you do kind things to others, good things come your way,’ Rodrigo told Billboard during her May cover story interview.

She added, ‘I don’t know, she put it so eloquently, and when I say it now… it’s not as cool.’

Olivia said that she has admired and looked up to Taylor since she was a kid. ‘She is absolutely the kindest individual in the whole world,’ the hitmaker told SiriusXM in March.

‘Actually, last night — like literally 12 hours ago — I got a package from her with this handwritten note,’ she continued.

Olivia was finally able to meet the superstar at the 2021 BRIT Awards, where the two posed for a picture backstage.

The beautiful brunette captioned the photo with a series of wide-eyed smiley emojis.

The day before was the release of the music video for her newly-released track, Good 4 U.

During the video for the pop-rock-tinged track, the songwriter was seen auditioning for a duo of producers before performing a routine with a cheerleading squad in a high school gymnasium.

Following the end of the first portion of the dance sequence, the actress entered a pharmacy and picked up what appeared to be a container of gasoline before singing her heart out in front of the camera.

The third part of the video featured the singer belting out the song’s last chorus in a partially water-filled bedroom as a pair of curtains burned behind her.

Good 4 U’s video ended with Rodrigo entering a lake and giving the song’s final line directly to the camera before she submerged herself in the water and swam away.

The track is set to be released as a part of the singer’s upcoming debut studio album, entitled Sour.

Prior to the release of the project’s third single, Rodrigo had notched a chart-topping hit with her song Drivers License, which was initially released in January.

The track went on to reach the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, making the singer the youngest solo artist to ever debut at that position.

Her second single, entitled Deja Vu, was released in April to positive critical reception and reached the number eight position on the aforementioned chart.

Good 4 U was her third release from the album, and she is set to perform the track during Saturday’s episode of Saturday Night Live.

The three singles will be released on Sour, which is set to make its debut on May 21st.

During an interview with Nylon, Rodrigo spoke about her vision for the album and expressed that she wanted her studio effort to reflect her musical background.

‘My dream is to have it be an intersection between mainstream pop, folk music, and alternative rock…I’m going to try and take all of my sort of influences and inspirations and kind of make something that I like,’ she said.

The singer also noted that she studied the reception of her first single in order to point out what her listeners enjoyed about her approach to making a song.

Specifically, she noted that ‘seeing everyone’s responses to the song had made me more aware of why my songwriting is special and what it is about my songwriting that resonates with people.’
