Osher Günsberg warns Bachelorette suitors they have less than a week left to apply

In a Bachelor Australia series first, forthcoming bisexual Bachelorette Brooke Blurton will date both men and women.

On Thursday, show host Osher Günsberg warned potential castmates that they have less than a week left to apply.

‘This is your last chance to apply for Brooke’s season of The Bachelorette, applications close midnight Sunday. ALL APPLY NOW!’

Some fans remained confused in the comments, with one asking whether Brooke was ‘looking for a girl, or a guy?’

‘I mean I love her so I guess I’m applying?!’ said one woman who clearly got the message.

Channel Ten’s casting decision was a huge hit with fellow Australian celebs when it was first announced on Wednesday night.

Fellow Bachelor series star Abbie Chatfield was thrilled with the decision to cast the first openly bisexual Bachelorette.

The reality star took to Instagram shortly after the news was announced on Thursday, gushing over ‘icon’ Brooke Blurton.

‘The best decision made in casting in a LONG time. The Indigenous representation! The queer representation! The icon representation!’ she wrote on Instagram.

The post was accompanied with a joyous photo of Brooke and Abbie, who have both starred in The Bachelor franchise previously.

‘It gives me goosebumps thinking about what this means for Australia!’ Abbie added.

‘Brooke is one of the best people I’ve ever met. She’s intelligent, down to earth, hilarious and knows herself so bloody well. I can’t wait for this to air!’

Several other Australian stars congratulated Brooke after Thursday’s announcement.

The forthcoming series will mark the first time any season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette has featured a mixed-gender cast vying for the lead star’s affection.

Following the official announcement, Osher shared a photo of Brooke holding a red rose to Instagram and wrote: ‘I am beyond thrilled to announce that our next #bacheloretteau is… @brooke.blurton.’

‘We are a nation of people from so many different backgrounds, so many different cultures and so many different experiences, yet we all have one thing in common – we all want to be loved in a way that is meaningful to us,’ Osher added.

‘I can’t wait to get started on helping our Bachelorette Brooke find that kind of love.’

Comedian Julia Morris also expressed her excitement, commenting: ‘Inspired. Love Brooke. Love you.’

Model Tegan Martin wrote, ‘This is incredible congrats beauty,’ while writer Rosie Waterland added: ‘YESSSSSSSS’.

Meanwhile, former Bachelor In Paradise star Alisha Aitken-Radburn said: ‘TIME TO FALL IN LOVE… so incredibly excited for our beautiful Brooke.

‘From being piled into the same van at Sydney Airport and carted off to the Bachie mansion three years ago to Brooke rightly running the place. Third time’s a charm.’

Brooke is set to make history as the first openly bisexual Bachelorette.

The 25-year-old Bachelor alum said she’s ‘ready’ to help smash the reality TV show’s conventions in an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Thursday.

When asked how she felt audiences would take the change, Brooke admitted, ‘I am not too sure if Australia is ready for it.’

‘I certainly am,’ the Indigenous star stated.

‘If it makes people feel uncomfortable in any way, I really challenge them to think about why it does,’ continued the Bachelor in Paradise star.

The youth worker has dated men and women in the past.

She addressed her sexuality on The Bachelor in 2018, telling leading man Nick Cummins, ‘I’ve had four relationships… one with a guy but I’ve also had two relationships with women.

‘When I was in those relationships, I looked beyond what they were as female and I really loved [them] for who they were as people.’
