Paris Hilton gets an apology from the artist who Photoshopped the fake ‘STOP BEING POOR’ tank top

Paris Hilton has received an apology from the artist that Photoshopped an image showing the socialite in a tank top with the words ‘STOP BEING POOR’ emblazoned on it in big bold letters.

After Hilton set the record straight about the fake photo via TikTok on Monday, she was surprised to find a Twitter DM from an artist named Jubilee who created the image.

Jubilee offered a sincere ‘Sorry’ before Paris invited her onto her This Is Paris podcast to explain.

Making amends: Paris Hilton received a very sincere apology from the artist who Photoshopped her to look as if she was wearing a shirt that said ‘Stop being poor’ on it

‘I’m glad you’re not upset or anything,’ Jubilee’s Twitter message read. ‘Truly didn’t think people would think it was real or get upset over it. LOL. I hope it hasn’t brought you any grief.’

Hilton was grateful for the apology and gave the artist an opportunity to share her side of the story on the podcast.

There she explained how the image was first shared on Tumblr, but didn’t ‘get much traction’ on the microblogging platform.

The image exploded after an outlet shared the fake photo, something that made Jubilee feel ‘really bad.’

‘I think some article got a hold of it… they actually thought the shirt was real,’ Jubilee explained. ‘I didn’t want anyone to think it was real. When I look at it, it seems pretty obviously fake to me.’

‘I definitely never meant any ill will or anything like that and I’m sorry it caused you stress cause you thought it was the paparazzi,’ she went on. ‘It was just some dumb kid with photoshop.’

Hilton debunked the ‘myth’ of the viral image online Monday when she recorded a selfie video with the photo in question superimposed in the background.

She began by saying: ‘So there is this photo online of me, I’m sure you’ve seen it.’

Paris was hoping to end all misconceptions about the image which has been on the internet for nearly a decade as she said: ‘I never wore that shirt.

‘This was completely Photoshopped, everyone thinks it’s real but that’s not the truth.’

The background then was changed to an image of Paris and Kimberly Stewart wearing the matching top during a party at the Palms Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas back in April 2005.

The photo revealed that Paris was actually wearing a shirt which read: ‘STOP BEING DESPERATE.’

She then punctuated her point with a smile as she ended the video by saying: ‘Don’t believe everything you read.’

Paris captioned the short clip: ‘Debunking the #STOPBEINGPOOR myth. [woman gesturing no, cat laughing while crying emojis] Don’t believe everything you read. [smirk emoji] #greenscreen #Iconic [crown emoji]’

According to website KnowYourMeme, the origin of the photoshopped image came from a Tumblr post by user ‘softwaring’ on May 2, 2013 which went viral.

Things are going swimmingly for the star as Paris got engaged to Carter Reum after he popped the question while celebrating her 40th birthday on a private island in February.

They began dating in 2019 after meeting through mutual friends, and their relationship has clearly gone from strength to strength.

Paris and Carter’s wedding could still be a way in the future, however, as her sister Nicky recently told New You magazine that the former reality TV star has not started planning the wedding yet.

‘I don’t think she’s doing it in the immediate future. She wants to do it when everyone is safe and there’s a bit more clarity but I’ll definitely be helping her, especially with the fun things like the bachelorette party.’

She added her sister will have a joint bachelor/bachelorette party possibly in Las Vegas or Miami.

The New York resident then said Paris has been very busy with her ventures: ‘Or maybe it’s because she’s been so busy with launching her podcast and her production company but she hasn’t really had time to even think about it.’

And Nicky also shed light on what kind of bride Paris, 40, will be, noting: ‘Paris is the opposite of a Bridezilla.

‘I told her, “If you want to have a wedding anytime soon, you better get on it.” Venues get booked up. Some of these dresses take a few months to make. But she seems very focused on her business right now.’

As far as Carter, Nicky said he is ‘really nice’ and they are very happy together.

‘They are very similar. They are very focused and passionate about their work. They get along great,’ she added.
