Peter Andre reveals he WILL send his children back to school as lockdown eases on June 1st…but only because his doctor wife Emily said so

Peter Andre has admitted that he will be sending his children back to school on June 1st, but only because his doctor wife said they should.

From Monday primary schools will start reopening reception classes as well as Years 1 and 6.

Nurseries and other early years settings will also reopen on Monday while secondary schools will welcome back some year 10 and year 12 students from June 15.

Back to school: Peter Andre has admitted that he will be sending his children back to school tomorrow but only because his doctor wife said they should

Peter, 47, and his wife Emily MacDonagh, 30, have different opinions on whether or not their two children, Amelia, six, and Theo, three, should go back to school.

The caring father is also dad to Junior, 14, and Princess, 12, that he shares with ex-wife Katie Price.

He told The Sun: ‘We very rarely have opposite views but I don’t think they should go back tomorrow and Emily thinks they should.

The singer married Emily in 2015 and has been looking after his four children during lockdown while Emily has been working on the NHS frontline throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: ‘First, as I set out on Sunday, we will now reopen schools to more children. Closing schools has deprived children of their education and as so often it is the most disadvantaged pupils who risk being hardest hit.

‘On Monday we will start to put this right in a safe way by reopening nurseries and other early years settings and reception, year one and year six in primary schools.

‘A fortnight later on June 15 secondary schools will begin to provide some face-to-face contact time with years 10 and 12.’

The Prime Minister’s announcement comes after Schools Minister Nick Gibb admitted it may not be possible for all primary school pupils to return to the classroom before the summer holidays.

The Government’s coronavirus recovery strategy said the ‘ambition’ is for every pupil to be able to return for at least a month before the start of the next academic year in September.

But Mr Gibb said it is ‘difficult to say’ whether that ‘ambition’ will be delivered on as he insisted all decisions on easing restrictions will be based on the latest scientific evidence on the rate of transmission of the disease.
