The first picture of a nine-year-old boy who died after a ‘serious incident’ at a house in Worcestershire has emerged.
A man, 39, and a woman, 33, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and child neglect respectively, following the death of young Alfie Scott.
Neighbours saw the child being carried out of his home in Copcut, Droitwich, on Thursday afternoon after an air ambulance landed outside.
Alfie’s family said they were all ‘shocked to the core with grief,’ as the man and the woman remain in police custody while officers investigate the ‘unexplained’ death.
Neighbours have voiced concern over Alfie’s welfare, saying they often saw him playing outside in the street in unsuitable clothing.
One neighbour said: ‘It’s just so sad what has happened.
‘The kids used to always be playing outside in whatever weather wearing barely any clothes.

‘We’d see them on their bikes playing outside all the time in all weathers and not wearing the right clothing.
‘We last saw the little boy Alfie two days ago. he was playing on his bike and there’s a little ramp by his drive that he was riding over.’
Detective Inspector Ed Slough said: ‘This is a tragic incident that has seen a young boy lose his life and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this awful time.
‘We are currently treating the boy’s death as unexplained and are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances.’
‘We are aware of comments in the media and social media relating this to a stabbing, we would like to clear this up and say there were not stab wounds found on the young boy.
‘The death of a child this age can have a huge impact on his family and his friends.
‘We are supporting his family with specially trained officers.’
Neighbours described Alfie as ‘well mannered’ and ‘a massive Arsenal fan’.

One local said: ‘All the kids were lovely and Alfie was very well mannered and polite.
‘It’s absolutely horrific what has happened to him. His grandparents live nearby and will be devastated.
‘I understand Alfie was a massive Arsenal fan like his grandad.’
The mother of the boy has been named as Carla Scott, who lived in the house with her four young children.
A relative, who did not want to be named, said: ‘We don’t know at this stage what happened and the police have told us not to say to much.
‘We have not seen Carla or the kids since the beginning of lockdown.
‘I spoke to one of the kids yesterday after it happened. We are all shocked to the core and in grief.’
Carla’s parents Paul and Alaina Scott, who live two miles away from their daughter, were too upset to comment.
Residents living in the close-knit cul-de-sac expressed their shock at the death.

A neighbour who lives opposite the house said: ‘The ambulance turned up just before 3pm and I saw the little boy being taken away on the stretcher.
‘I usually see them out playing in the road but I don’t know them personally.
‘I didn’t hear or see anything just the ambulance pulling up and the sirens.
‘It’s terribly sad what’s happened.’
Another neighbour said: ‘I know the family and I know Carla. She’s the mother of the four kids and the little boy who’s died.
‘I was actually taking a nap and heard the helicopter it looked like it was landing on the houses so was incredibly loud.
‘I went outside my house and was stood outside and was just watching for around 20 minutes.
‘The air ambulance people landed on the grass next to their house as it’s the end one and then the paramedics got off and suited in white suits and went straight in.

‘But they went in and within five minutes came out carrying the little boy in their arms.
‘He looked like he was blue his body just looked blue.
‘But his mum didn’t come out or anything the paramedics just brought him out.
‘I then went round to my friends who lives directly across from the house and you can see into the family’s house from their window.
‘And Carla was there stood in the front window.’
Alfie’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are on-going around the circumstances
‘It’s really sad though I have children myself and I used to see their kids playing outside by my house.
‘When I’d be sat on my PlayStation they’d be sat waving at me through the window.
‘They were always out playing and seemed like good kids.’
West Mercia Police say Alfie’s death is currently being treated as ‘unexplained’ while a man and woman were arrested.

Forensics officers were seen combing for clues in an upstairs bedroom and locals were told to avoid the area.
