Britain’s richest plumber Charlie Mullins has slashed the price of his Essex mansion by £350,000 as he looks for a quick sale after divorcing his second wife.

The stunning six-bedroom home with marble floors, home cinema and gym, was listed just over a month ago for £4.75m.

But it is now on the market for £4.4m as the multi-millionaire boss of Pimlico Plumbers looks for a quick sale after his divorce from wife of four years Julie, 48, was finalised last December.

A spokesman for Mulllins, 68, has said selling home in Hutton Mount, near Brentwood, was not a ‘direct result of the divorce’.

The luxury property is in one of the most exclusive roads in the Hutton Mount area and was built in 2010.

When Mullins, who is worth an estimated £70m, bought the home in January 2019 for £3.5m it was a record purchase for a property in the area favoured by bankers and City financiers.

Now single, he lives in a spectacular penthouse in central London where he overseas his business empire that employs more than 450 people.

After putting the home up for sale, he said: ‘It’s been said that ‘the only way is Essex’ but Essex wasn’t for me.

‘Don’t get me wrong it’s a lovely house and I’ve spend well over a million quid on it so whoever is lucky enough to buy it is getting a right touch!’

The house was first listed on February 3rd with the £4.75m price tag and described by estate agents as an ‘impressive property that the refurbished to a very high standard, creating a delightful family home’.

Entry to the mansion is through electronically operated gates and inside no expense has been spared in the refurbishment that upset many of his neighbours who objected to his work vans often parked outside the home.

He was previously married to first wife Lynda for 40 years with the divorce settlement costing the father of four around £12m.

Mullins said in an interview earlier this year that the split with Julie was not as pricey and only cost him a ‘couple of mill.’

During the pandemic Mullins has spent much of his time in Dubai where he is looking to expand his business.

He was criticised for saying he would only employ people who had a Covid 19 vaccination saying he wanted to introduce a ‘no jab, no job’ policy.’

He was also blasted before Christmas when he said he would prefer a ‘rerun’ of the pandemic over Brexit.

The fervent Remainer claimed leaving the EU would cause more ‘lasting damage’ than the health crisis and said the prospect of no trade deal was ‘one disaster too far’.

The entrepreneur, who runs one of Britain’s biggest independent plumbing firms, was also criticised last summer after saying those who were still working from home were ‘selfish’ and ‘don’t care about the economy’.
