Police officers played hopscotch after a five-year-old chalked the game outside his house.

Police community support officers Holly Meadows and Fiona Clancy jumped through the hopscotch game Ted Bailey-Bowler drew on the pavement outside his house on Smedley Street in Matlock, Derbyshire.

Ted had his fifth birthday in isolation last week and he and his mum used his new chalk set to draw the game on the pavement for people walking past.

The heartwarming video starts with one officer rapidly completing the game.

Although she stops just before the end of the squares at blocks eight and nine.

Before she’s finished the game another officer begins the course.

Eight and nine seem to be the tricky blocks as she skips eight and goes straight to ten.

The second police officer realises that they have both skipped some blocks and she goes back.

She counts as she completes the game: ‘nine, ten, 11, 12’ and they both cheer.

Ted’s mum Lis Bailey-Bowler told the BBC: ‘It was for anyone passing it’s a bit tricky at the end.

‘PCSOs Clancy and Meadows loved having a go.’

Ted’s mum shared the charming footage with Derbyshire police who posted it on their facebook page.
