Rebel Wilson pays tribute to her bogan roots in throwback Instagram post

Her recent roles have shown a slimmed-down Rebel Wilson.

But the actress flashed back to one of her first ever gigs on Thursday, in a sentimental Instagram post that showed a dramatically different look for the star.

‘Blast from the past!’ wrote the 41-year-old comedian, alongside an image of her character ‘Leanne’ from the sketch show The Wedge.

New look: Rebel Wilson (here on Pooch Perfect) flashed back to one of her first ever gigs on Thursday, in a sentimental Instagram post that showed her with a dramatically different look

Rebel’s ‘bogan’ character sported a mullet hairstyle and a bright yellow duck tattoo.

‘Who remembers this TV show?’ asked the Sydney-born Hollywood star.

In the Channel 10 series, which ran for two seasons in 2006 and 2007, Rebel played a variety of characters.

However, the character she’s best known for playing is Leanne, who, along with Corinne (played by Kate Jenkinson), are two working class, poker machine playing women, one of whom has a tendency to leave her kids in the car while gambling.

Rebel gave a shout-out to her former co-star in the caption, writing ‘@katejenko Miss ya mate!!’

Kate also appeared in Wilson’s short-lived U.S. sitcom Super Fun Night.

Also on Thursday, Rebel practised for her ‘new film role’ by riding a bicycle around the ballroom of a lavish hotel.

‘Let’s just call this “Ballroom Bicycling”,’ the actress captioned a short clip on Instagram.

‘#quarantinelife #brompton (practicing for something work related).’

Motivated: Also on Thursday, Wilson uploaded videos of herself posing in a maroon tracksuit to Instagram, before getting on a bike and doing laps around a ballroom

Rebel stunned in a maroon tracksuit, then jumped on a Brompton bike.

She then rode clockwise and started doing laps in a circular motion around the room while Bicycle Race by British rock band Queen played in the background.

The Pitch Perfect star then started riding in a figure eight pattern under the ballroom’s chandeliers, before changing directions and disembarking the two-wheeler to pose for the camera.

She has been there before, while attending the Cats photocall in December 2019.

‘Okay, this is ballroom bicycle riding. Practicing for my new film role, and thanks to Corinthia for letting me use this space,’ Rebel said in a separate post to her Instagram Stories, where she was spotted with a face mask on before riding.

The post comes after Rebel announced her plans to take on her first role as a director on Monday – revealing she felt inspired to make the career move in 2022.

Rebel shared a photo of a Hollywood Reporter article detailing how female directors broke the record for most Oscar nominations.

‘Biggest congrats ladies,’ Rebel wrote beneath the image. ‘You’ve inspired me to take my first ever directing job in 2022.’
