Rebel Wilson reveals her years-long battle with polycystic ovarian syndrome after gaining weight

Rebel Wilson has spoken about being diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome after suddenly gaining weight when she was in her 20’s.

In an interview with E! News on Friday, the 40-year-old actress spoke candidly about her fluctuating weight and how it affected her health.   

‘I’ve been overweight for about 20 years. I started gaining weight when I was about 20,’ she explained. 

Rebel said she ‘gained weight rapidly’ while battling polycystic ovarian syndrome. 

Rebel confessed that the diagnosis caused her to ‘feel sad’, and said as she’s gotten older, she’s become more ‘health conscious’, particularly as she considers having children.  

She added: ‘It’s just now turning 40, I am more health conscious and thinking of starting a family.’ 

After losing 18 kilos since the beginning of the year, Rebel confessed she can ‘really relate to anybody who is overweight’, but doesn’t think that ‘being smaller is better’.

She also spoke about her new boyfriend, multi-millionaire Jacob Busch, who is heir to the Anheuser-Busch brewing dynasty, which produces Budweiser beer.

The Pitch Perfect star went public with their relationship in September, but she said she actually started dating the 29-year-old long before losing weight.

According to a report by People in September, they were introduced by a mutual friend last year, but their relationship only turned romantic after Rebel returned to the USA after quarantining in Australia earlier this year. 

Last month, Rebel revealed she was only three kilograms away from her goal weight, after declaring 2020 her ‘Year of Health’ back in January.  

She later said that while she still treats herself, she’s found ways to indulge that don’t necessarily involve food.
