Rebel Wilson shops after Griffith Park hike… as she announces she’ll host Pooch Perfect for ABC

SAG Award nominee Rebel Wilson took an invigorating hike through Griffith Park in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The Australian 40-year-old opted to hold, rather than wear, her black face mask which is mandatory throughout the 4,310-acre park in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The COVID-19 pandemic is spiking nationwide, with over 947K confirmed cases in Los Angeles leading to 12,706 deaths as of Wednesday – according to Johns Hopkins University.

But Rebel (born Melanie Bownds) put her face covering back on when she did some shopping, for a Diet Coke, among other items at Gelson’s Market in Hollywood.  

Wilson sported a black ‘Bu’ (for Malibu) baseball cap, matching puffer coat, T-shirt, leggings, and sneakers for her outing.

The Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant also wore cat-eye shades and carried a Louis Vuitton wallet while hauling a blue recyclable grocery bag.

Missing from Rebel’s side was her millionaire boyfriend – Napp’s Dairy Free Ice Cream founder Jacob Busch – whom she met in 2019 through a mutual friend.

Wilson’s street sighting came hours after she announced she’ll host an eight-episode ABC reboot of her Seven Network groomer competition Pooch Perfect, which premieres this spring.

‘Hey guys, what’s up? It’s Rebel and I’ve got some exciting news to share with you,’ the Pitch Perfect alum – who boasts 16.5M social media followers – said in a video.

‘It’s about my new show coming to ABC called Pooch Perfect. This is a competitive dog grooming reality show like nothing else, okay? It’s gonna be pawsome. I can’t wait to get on set and film, and I can’t wait for you guys to see this amazing and super cute show coming to ABC this year.’

The Pooch Perfect judges will be The Vanderpump Dog Foundation co-founder Lisa Vanderpump, celebrity dog groomer Jorge Bendersky, and veterinarian Dr. Callie Harris.

‘Technically, I’m allergic to dogs though,’ Rebel – whose family members are dog handlers – admitted to Deadline in 2019.

‘My childhood was full of weekend adventures at dog shows all around Australia and my family had a business selling pet products out of a caravan – such as leads, treats, and the best dog styling equipment available.’

Wilson will next discuss the time she was kidnapped at gunpoint in Mozambique during Sky One’s Straight Talking, which airs this Thursday at 9pm.

The Cats actress will also discuss why it took her 20 years to finally make the commitment to reach her 165lb goal weight.
