But Reese Witherspoon didn’t seem to mind being mistaken for another famous face as she ran errands in LA on Sunday.

In fact, the Legally Blonde star, 44, seemed quite thrilled about it, tweeting: ‘To the woman in the parking lot who just asked me if I was Carrie Underwood : You officially made my day!’

The Grammy-winning singer, 37, found fame in 2005 when she won the fourth season of TV talent competition American Idol.

She has gone on to enjoy a string of country music hits.

Last Sunday, the Big Little Lies and The Morning Show actress marked Father’s Day with a sweet tribute to her second husband Jim Toth with whom she shares son Tennessee, seven.

She called Toth  ‘a wonderful dad’ as she shared a sweet snap of him and Tennessee to her Instagram.

Witherspoon wed the talent agent in 2011, three years after finalizing her divorce from actor Ryan Phillippe.

She and Ryan were married for nine years and have two children together – daughter Ava, 20, and son Deacon, 16.

Witherspoon recently spoke to the LA Times about how her religious faith keeps her anchored.

The New Orleans-born actress was raised as an Episcopalian and told the outlet: ‘There’s a time and a purpose and a place, and I don’t fear death, because I know there’s heaven. I know it.’ 

She explained: ‘I believe deeply that there’s a higher power — and I don’t know what that is — but I just don’t fear dying.’ 

The star added: ‘We’re all God’s children and your purpose in the world is to find the gifts that God gave you.’
