RHOP’s Monique Samuels starts rap career under name HaZel and debuts new video after leaving show

Real Housewives Of Potomac’s Monique Samuels announced that she would not be returning for a sixth season of the hit Bravo show after three seasons.

And now the 37-year-old mother of three is saying hello to ‘HaZel,’ her new name for her singing career.

This weekend the star shared a music video titled Drag Queens from HaZel. She had a series of extravagant looks in the three-minute video, while revealing the song’s title is a nod to an infamous moment from the show.

HaZel: Real Housewives of Potomac’s Monique Samuels, 37, announced her departure from the show over the weekend and is now pursuing a rap career under the name HaZel as she debuts music video for new single Drag Queens

The title of the song is a reference to an iconic moment that occurred in season four of the show while in a smackdown battle with castmate Candiace Dillard Bassett, as Samuels yelled, ‘I will drag you, pregnant and all!’

After being dubbed the ‘drag queen’ by various fans, Samuels told StyleCaster, she thought to herself, ‘That actually would be an interesting title.’

‘The song is me reminding myself of who I am as a person, what I stand for, what I don’t stand for,’ she said and it was recorded before quarantine as a way to blow off steam after last season of the show.

The video follows HaZel as she gets glammed up before hitting a nightclub and features a series of outfit changes as well as a dance sequence featuring famous drag queens Iyana Deschanel and Brooklyn Heights.

Monique added in her SC interview, ‘I did not realize that it was a 24/7, 12-month job. I thought it was just, ‘OK. We’re going to film, and then I’m off for the rest of the year.’ No. It’s never-ending.

She continued to say, ‘I appreciate everything that people have done for me, everybody that’s been Team Monique — I love y’all, I thank y’all — but when you cross certain lines there’s no going back.’

The explosive reunion saw Monique coming to set with a burn-book style collection of receipts from her fellow castmates: Gizelle Bryant, Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon, Wendy Osefo and Dillard Bassett.

As of now all minus Samuels are set to return for another season.
