Rita Ora is confirmed as the new judge on The Voice Australia

The line-up of The Voice Australia judging panel for 2021 was announced on Wednesday.

As reported by Perth Now, UK pop star Rita Ora, 30, will join an all-star panel of Australian singers, including Keith Urban, 53, Jessica Mauboy, 31, and last year’s mentor, Guy Sebastian, 39.

While Guy survived the chop when the reality program announced its move from Channel Nine to Channel Seven this year, the rest are out – former mentors Kelly Rowland, 39, Boy George, 59, and Delta Goodrem, 36, will not return.

Grammy-winning country singer Keith also said he was excited to be reprising his role on the show – he last appeared in 2011.

‘The stars have finally aligned again,’ the Australian crooner told the paper.

Australian Idol alum Guy, the only judge from last year’s crop to survive the network move, said he was excited to work with the new panel.

In October, when speculation about an all-new judging panel was rife, Guy revealed that he and his fellow judge Delta Goodrem were ‘in talks’ to stay on as celebrity coaches on the series – however it appears Delta is not set to return.

Guy had been a judge on the singing program for two years with Nine, and speculation on whether he would return had been swirling for weeks.

Last year, Sonia was replaced by dual hosts Darren McMullen and Renee Bargh, after she herself moved from Nine to Seven to front Big Brother Australia.

The Voice is set to air on Channel Seven for the first time in 2021, after the Nine Network failed to renew its contract after a nine-year run.

When Nine did not take up the contract for the 2021 season, Seven jumped on the licence ‘very quickly’, sources said.

It’s unclear when filming will begin for the 2021 season, but it is likely UK-based mentor Rita will travel to Australia for the production.
