Rochelle joined Phillip on the couch for a heated discussion on the easing of lockdown restrictions.

The TV presenter, 59, questioned why the government are hesitating to reopen indoor hospitality early ‘for the sake of four tragic deaths’, after Monday’s Covid death toll was announced.

He was accused by some This Morning viewers of making ‘insensitive’ comments as he said: ‘Tragic though every one of those deaths is, that’s four deaths in the UK that are keeping these places, right on the brink – some of them will never reopen.

‘Some of these restaurants will never reopen, for the sake of four tragic deaths.’

A number of viewers felt that Phillip’s comments were inconsiderate and wondered whether he would make them if it was people he knew who had died from the virus.

Regular This Morning presenter Holly, 40, has been on a break from the show since Easter, as she works on a new mysterious project.

Over the weekend, Holly shared a selfie with a glimpse of her son Chester and a notebook alongside the teasing caption about the project.
