Rose Byrne and longtime partner Bobby Cannavale enjoy a day at the beach in Sydney

Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale made the most of their newfound freedom on Monday after emerging from mandatory hotel quarantine.

The longtime couple enjoyed a day at the beach in Sydney, on what was also Bobby’s 51st birthday.

Both Rose, 41, and Bobby, along with their two young sons, Rafa, three and Rocco, five, recently completed 14 days of hotel quarantine after flying in from the U.S.

Rose showed off her slender physique in a vibrant purple and red patterned bikini with high-cut briefs and a bandeau-style top.

The Bridesmaids actress wore her bobbed brunette hair loose around her shoulders, and appeared to go makeup free for the outing.

When she wasn’t in the ocean, Rose protected herself from the sun in a wide-brim straw hat and black sunglasses.

After staking a spot on the sand, Rose laid out a black and white striped beach towel.

She was also seen sipping from a drink bottle before wading through the waist-deep water.

As they made their way down to the beach, Rose had her hands full with boxes of takeaway food.

The Bad Neighbours star wore a plain grey T-shirt over her bikini, and carried a cross-body bag.

Meanwhile, Bobby trailed behind her in a pair of dark blue patterned boardshorts, which he teamed with a white T-shirt.

The Boardwalk Empire actor also wore a New York Yankees baseball cap and dark sunglasses, and carried a blue and white patterned beach towel.

As they settled on the sand, the couple chatted before making their way into the pristine water. 

After taking off his shirt, Bobby lazed on a nearby floating jetty, appearing comfortable as he sprawled out.

At one stage, he dived into the water, before later returning to the jetty to dry off.

He was joined by Rose, who sat alongside him with her legs outstretched after enjoying a swim.  

The couple will soon lead the ensemble cast of the musical dramedy Seriously Red, written by Krew Boylan and directed by actress Gracie Otto.

The film follows Red (Boylan), a vivacious and hilarious red-headed woman grappling with high expectations and low self-esteem.

Red trades her job in real estate to take up a new career as a Dolly Parton impersonator.

She then falls into a new world of tribute artists, including a romance with a Kenny Rogers impersonator.

The film is slated for release later this year.

Rose hails from Sydney, but resides in New York City with Bobby and their two children.

She spoke about feeling torn between the two cities in an interview with the Herald Sun in June 2015.   

‘Australia is my emotional home and always will be, I think, but New York is where all my stuff is…’ she said at the time.

‘There’s always a small part of me that feels like a foreigner in a foreign land, that this isn’t my country and these are not my countrymen and I will probably return home one day.

‘Even if it’s totally not true, it’s a little story I have always told myself. But once you have a life here with somebody, that’s obviously a total game changer.’

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph’s Stellar Magazine in March 2018, Rose described being back home in Australia as ‘pretty luxurious’.  

‘Having the grandparents [around] – I got very spoiled when I was there. They’re very hands-on and I really do miss that,’ she said after a stint in Australia. 

‘That’s such a lovely thing to have. Occasionally I’ll walk out of the house [in New York] and be like, “Where am I again? Why am I here again?” I still feel like the outsider.

‘But America’s been good to me. I met my husband here, I’ve been very lucky in America. [But] it’s hard to leave [Australia]. I was quite disoriented after those six months, coming back to New York.’

In another interview with The Daily Telegraph in January 2015, Rose said Bobby was equally smitten with life Down Under.

‘Bobby has totally taken to Australia, and really, what is not to love? It is a beautiful country with great food and great coffee,’ she said at the time.

She added: ‘I think Americans generally are pretty impressed with the wildlife here. It is such a cliché, but my American friends and Bobby want to see a kangaroo or a koala.’
