Roxy Jacenko DENIES claims Channel 10 has scrapped her TV pilot – and slams gossip columnist who accused her of ‘crying poor’ amid the coronavirus pandemic

Roxy Jacenko has come out swinging against a Daily Telegraph gossip columnist who claimed on Sunday that her TV pilot I Am… Roxy! has been scrapped by Channel 10.

The pilot aired in March last year during Ten’s Pilot Week, but the network has since failed to reveal whether the show will return for a full season.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Sunday, the PR guru, 39, denied the journalist’s claims, explaining: ‘No decisions have been made yet on Pilot Week 2019.’

I Am… Roxy! was the highest rating pilot in the history of Channel 10’s Pilot Week, pulling in 530,000 metro viewers nationwide.

Touted as ‘Australia’s answer to Keeping Up with the Kardashians’, the program promised to give a fly-on-the-wall look inside Roxy’s glamorous and chaotic publicity empire.

Roxy also slammed the journalist for reporting that she was ‘crying poor to media’ about the recent downturn of her publicity company Sweaty Betty PR, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last week, Roxy had shared a picture of herself in her home gym to Instagram, with a caption that revealed the harsh effects of the disease on her business.

Hitting back at the columnist’s critique, Roxy told Daily Mail Australia: ‘I have not cried poor, like many other businesses, one of my (five) companies, Sweaty Betty PR has been hit hard by COVID-19.’

‘I am not ashamed to admit that I like many others have been affected by this unprecedented pandemic, fortunately – and as any research would show – I diversified my business interests some years ago,’ she said.

Roxy then listed off some of her many successful business ventures, including her digital influencer agency The Ministry of Talent, and her Chinese communications and media buying agency, 18Communications.

Roxy also reminded the journalist that she runs a popular online branding course which sees over 600 people attend each seminar.

It comes after Roxy revealed last Wednesday that her Sweaty Betty PR ’empire’ is struggling.

‘Surreal times right now,’ she wrote to Instagram.

’15 years it took to build into an empire with non stop commitment – 72 hours it took to tumble down all whilst I am in isolation and can’t help my team and boost morale,’ she added.
