Russell Crowe reveals why his teenage sons don’t want to live with him in the bush during COVID-19 lockdown – as they stay with their mother in Sydney instead

Russell Crowe is lying down during the coronavirus pandemic in ‘the bush’ – but his two sons, Tennyson, 14, and Charles, 16, aren’t joining him.

The Gladiator star, 56, revealed on Thursday that the teenagers had turned down his offer to live with him at the family’s country estate in Nana Glen, New South Wales.

He revealed on Sunrise that the boys had chosen to stay with their mother, Danielle Spencer, in Sydney instead for a rather surprising reason.

He explained that Tennyson and Charles chose to ride out the pandemic in Sydney because of the availability of UberEats.

‘When I asked the boys, they said they will choose Uber Eats over my paternal care. I wasn’t too impressed about that,’ Russell said.

The Oscar winner added that he’d chosen to stay in Nana Glen during lockdown to be closed to his parents, Jocelyn and John.

‘My boys live with their mum, and they’re pretty settled there,’ he said.

Russell confirmed via Twitter in April 2018 that he and Danielle had finally divorced, six years after their marriage breakdown.

He marked the occasion by selling off many of his prized possessions in a Sotheby’s auction titled The Art of Divorce that raised more than $3.7million.

Russell and Danielle married in 2003 and split in late 2012.

In January, Russell told the Fitzy & Wippa radio show that he had ‘limited time’ with his sons, which was why he’d decided to skip the Hollywood awards season to spend time with them in Australia.

‘This time of year, it’s difficult for me to engage in that stuff [awards]. As you know, I’m divorced now. And like many other blokes out there that are probably listening, I have limited time with my children,’ he said.

‘I don’t get to wake up with them every day. And I get them every year between December 27 and January 15. So if you expect me to do anything – anything, I don’t give a s**t what it is – in that time that doesn’t include my children, well you can go and whatever!’
