Gosling will portray Paul Cole, an actor who becomes stranded in 1950s rural Ohio after suffering a brutal attack.

Cole suffers from memory loss as he struggles to make it back to New York City and reclaim the life he had lost.

The film is based on the Donald E. Westlake novel Memory, which was written in the 1960s and published posthumously in 2010, two years after Westlake died at 75.
