Sacha Baron-Cohen and wife Isla Fisher appear to confirm move to Australia

Hollywood prankster Sacha Baron-Cohen and his wife, Isla Fisher, appear to have relocated from Los Angeles to Australia for good.

The Borat star, 49, and the Wedding Crashers actress, 44, have taken the major and seemingly permanent step of enrolling their children at a school in Sydney, which happens to be the city where they first met back in 2002.

The move would make them the most high-profile Hollywood couple to settle Down Under since Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky laid down roots in Byron Bay with their three children in 2014.

Sacha and Isla, who tied the knot in 2010, share three children together, Olive, 12, Elula, nine, and Montgomery, five.

On Thursday, Isla was spotted picking up her children from their new school after working on her laptop at a nearby café.

The former Home and Away star kept things casual in a pink hoodie, which she teamed with a pair of ripped jeans.

She completed her look with slip-on loafers and oversized sunglasses.

Until recently, the notoriously private family were living in Los Angeles.

But after filming wrapped on Sacha’s latest mockumentary, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, it’s unclear if he has any more work in the pipeline in LA – particularly amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Isla, who was raised in Perth from the age of six, has always dreamt of bringing up her children in Australia.

She told Marie Claire in 2018: ‘I have this secret fantasy of slowing down, moving to Byron Bay, getting off the grid and sitting on the sand with a Vegemite sandwich.’

The Scooby-Doo star added that it ‘isn’t easy’ raising children in LA, saying: ‘There’s not really a culture of bringing your kids to dinner parties or to restaurants past 6pm.

‘I tend to entertain at home because I want to be with my family – it’s easier to put your kids to bed and have a wine with friends.’

Isla herself had a wonderfully ‘outdoorsy’ upbringing alongside her four siblings.

She started her career playing Shannon Reed in Australian soap opera Home and Away in the ’90s, and has since starred in major Hollywood movies such as Now You See Me and The Great Gatsby.

On Saturday, it was announced that Isla would be lending her voice to Netflix’s new $10 million animated movie ‘Back To The Outback’, where she’ll play a friendly snake called Maddie.

The movie – which is described as a ‘love letter’ to Australia – will involve a wealth of local talent including Eric Bana, Keith Urban, Tim Minchin and Celeste Barber.

Meanwhile, her husband has long been making headlines for his controversial films, with this year’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm being his most shocking to date.

In the movie, Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani was infamously caught in what appeared to be a compromising position with a young actress posing as a journalist.

The president was then asked the question of whether or not he had any concerns about White House security breaches.

Trump replied: ‘I don’t find him [Cohen] funny. To me, he’s a creep.’

Sacha took to Twitter to respond to the president, writing: ‘Donald – I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! I admit, I don’t find you funny either.

‘But yet the whole world laughs at you. I’m always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you’ll need a job after Jan. 20. Let’s talk!’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Sacha and Isla’s representatives for comment.
