  • It came after backlash for wearing an N95 mask during a recent supply run
  • She clarified that her supermodel mom Christie Brinkley already had some masks stocked up
  • Hospitals are facing shortages of the medical-grade face masks amid the growing coronavirus pandemic

Sailor Brinkley-Cook opted not to wear her N95 face mask on Thursday after receiving fierce backlash for using the medical grade face cover earlier this week amid shortages.

The 21-year-old wrapped a scarf around her face while her boyfriend Ben Sosne went without as they took a stroll in Brooklyn during a break from self-quarantine.

She peeked out between the scarf and a blush knit cuffed beanie, finishing the look with a pair of white sneakers.

Sailor recently took to Instagram to defend herself after being called ‘ugly, fat and useless.’

She urged ‘I’ve been getting them a lot recently, and I don’t know whether it’s being cooped up in your houses that’s making you want to tear down a 21-year-old.

‘But I just gotta say, have some humanity. I’m a person, I have feelings, and I’m lucky because I’ve dealt with this s*** my entire life… But I just want y’all to know I’m not gonna take it.’

The hate-fueled comments came after she was spotted wearing an N95 face mask, amid a shortage due to the growing coronavirus pandemic.

Home Depot recently redirected shipments of the medical grade protective respirators to healthcare providers, as hospitals continue to run out.

President Donald Trump also invoked the Defense Production Act to compel 3M to produce more masks.

Sailor wrote on her story: ‘To everyone reaching out (very angrily) about me having a mask.. My mom is an artist and does projects that require her to wear a mask so she had a stash of them in her art studio. We didn’t buy them upon hearing about the spread of COVID-19.’

The blond beauty added: ‘She kept one mask for each one of our family members and then donated the rest to local hospitals. She’s been continuing to work to find supplies to help keep hospital workers safe as well.’

Mom Christie Brinkley, 66, told Extra this week: ‘My daughters are — don’t even get me started, I’m missing them so much. And I’m so worried about them. They’re both in the city.’

Sailor’s Dancing with the Stars: Live! tour was recently cancelled, after she replaced her supermodel mom on the show, following an injury during rehearsal.

Christie shares daughter Sailor and son Jack, 24, with ex-husband Peter Cook, 61, and she shares daughter Alexa, 34, with ex-husband Billy Joel, 70.
