Selena Gomez unveils surprise blonde bombshell look

Selena Gomez underwent a very drastic transformation on Friday as she revealed she had dyed her signature brown tresses blonde. 

The 28-year-old singer debuted her new platinum locks on her brand Rare Beauty’s social media page as she showcased her ‘new look’ with a mirror snap. 

‘New look. Need to pick new Rare Beauty lip and blush shades now,’ she wrote as she flexed her blonde ambition. 

Selena looked at ease in the comfort of her home as she posed in a white T-shirt with a new icy hairdo as many of her fans started dubbing her ‘Blondelena.’ 

She had previously dyed her hair blonde in 2017 but made the jump back to brunette after a brief stint.  

She spoke about the need for new makeup hues to go with her coloring, and revealed plans to dip into her beauty line for assistance. 

Her longtime colorists Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri — co-owners of the Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood — spoke about her transformation with DailyMail.com, revealing it took eight hours.  

‘We’ve been doing Selena’s color for over a decade now. She typically keeps it pretty natural, but this time she went for a big change. This blonde is unique to her as we had to make sure there was an equal balance of cool and warm for her skin tone. It’s an edgier look and perfect for summer,’ the ladies shared.

‘The entire process took 200 foils, several bowls of bleach and 8 hours of hair magic! Definitely worth it! Her hair looks and feels amazing!’ they added. 

Nikki and Riawna explained that they took great care to ‘highlight every hair on Selena’s head’ using color and lightening powder by Joico – revealing that the singer will continue to maintain the ‘unique blonde’ by using purple shampoo and conditioner from the brand. 

In the vein of change, the Wolves singer also recently got new ink on her body as she debuted a tiny cross on her collarbone last week.  

Selena has been hard at work on many projects including the upcoming Hulu series Only Murders in the Building with Steve Martin and Martin Short. 

Additionally her HBO Max cooking show Selena + Chef was tapped for a third season, as she continues her cooking journey under the guidance of celebrity chefs.
