Shadow and Bone cast scream and are left in tears of laughter after Netflix prank them

The Shadow and Bone cast were left screaming in terror and in tears of laughter when Netflix played a prank on them by turning London into The Fold.

In an exclusive clip shared with MailOnline, stars Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Amita Suman, Freddy Carter, and Danielle Galligan reunited to answer questions and chat about the show when they were scared out of their wits by the streaming service.

Using elaborate visual effects and a loud sounds, Museum Road was transformed into The Fold, which is an ominous swath of darkness full of terrifying creatures in the universe of their fantasy show.

Amita, who plays spy Inej Ghafa, was so frightened by the prank she screamed and ran away from her chair, huddling in front of Freddy, who portrays fellow thief Kaz Brekker, who held her hand to comfort her.

Jessie, who takes on the role of lead Alina Starkov, was so shocked she shouted ‘what the f**k? What the f**k is going on?’.

Her co-star Archie – who portrays Alina’s best friend Malyen Oretsev- added to her terror by jumping up and holding onto her, after being so scared by the prank he shouted out loud.

Danielle, who plays Nina Zenik, followed their lead and also squealed when they were surprised by the prank, and after the noise died down Amita and Freddy were seen wiping their eyes as they laughed. 

But that wasn’t the only time the quintet were set to be pranked because when Amita asked her co-stars ‘what they would do if The Fold appeared in London’, their surroundings went dark as the visual effects spread over the building behind them.

Volcra, the terrifying, bloodthirsty creatures in the show, were also seen flying around them and Jessie shouted: ‘Oh no, no, no!’

Amita screamed once again in the prank and joked that ‘that’s what she’d do’ if The Fold took over London in real life, before she said ‘Alina, get your light out’ in reference to Jessie’s character and her power as a Sun Summoner.

Afterwards, Archie and Jessie were asked about how they felt during the prank and the former admitted it was ‘pretty terrifying’, while the actress claimed they’d all ‘scared each other’.

Archie then quipped: ‘Yea, that’s what happened and then it sort of turned into a Shaggy and Scooby Doo moment.’ 

Shadow and Bone follows Alina, an unassuming mapmaker who discovers she has the power to summon light and is her country Ravka’s first Sun Summoner.

She quickly learns she could help destroy The Fold, which has split Ravka in two for centuries, and it is up to her to master her powers so that she can save her country from its foes.

Alina is taken to the Little Palace by General Kirigan, aka The Darkling (Ben Barnes), where she starts her training, but unbeknown to her members of The Dregs gang Kaz, Inej, and Jesper Fahey (Kit Young) hatch a plot to find her when a bounty is put out on her.

Shadow and Bone takes its name from -and is based predominantly on- Leigh Bardugo’s book of the same name, which is the first in a trilogy, and also draws from her Six of Crows duology.
