Shameless star Steve Howey and wife Sarah Shahi divorcing

Shameless actor Steve Howey and his wife Sarah Shahi are divorcing after 11 years of marriage and three children together. 

Shahi filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court on May 4, according to People.

‘After much thought and consideration, we have decided to end our marriage,’ a statement from the pair reads. ‘We are so grateful for the past 10 years together and proud of our children that we’ve raised. 

‘As we enter into this new phase of our lives, our priority will remain co-parenting our children with so much love, mutual respect and friendship. And though our relationship is changing, we are committed to continuing our lives as a loving family.’  

In her filing, Shahi listed April 14 as their official date of separation, and cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind the split, according to Us Weekly.    

Howey and Shahi tied the knot in Las Vegas in February 2009 following a two-year-long engagement.   

Five months after saying ‘I do’, the couple welcomed son William, followed by twins Violet and Knox in 2015.   

Howet met Shahi when she was guest starring on an episode of Reba in 2004, and became engaged three years later during a trip to Hawaii. 

Howey may best be known to fans as lovable goofball Van Montgomery on Reba, followed by bartender Kevin Ball on Shameless, a role he has been playing since 2011.  

Shahi’s long list of acting credits include roles in Dawson’s Creek, Alias, The L Word, Person Of Interest and The Rookie.
