Shane Richie’s son Shane Jnr ‘wants to change surname back to father’s for I’m A Celeb stint’

Coleen Nolan and Shane Richie’s son Shane Jnr has reportedly joked about changing his surname back to Richie to support his father, who is set to star on I’m A Celebrity.

The Rixton singer switched his last name to Nolan back in 2017, when Coleen, 55, took part in Celebrity Big Brother.

And now Shane Jnr, 32, allegedly said he might want to echo the sentiment for his father, 56, who was announced as part of the line-up on Sunday for the upcoming series set in North Wales.

A source told The Sun: ‘Shane Jnr is hugely supportive of his mum and his dad and will do anything to publicly show his love for them.

‘When Coleen was in Celebrity Big Brother he stopped using Richie and is now known as Shane Nolan, he did this to support her and to show her how much he cared and respected her

‘It was really sweet and meant so much. After his mates found out his dad Shane was heading to Wales for I’m A Celeb they joked about whether he would change it back to Richie and he’d said he would think about it.’

Detailing his money problems, the singer told ITV: ‘And now I am literally skint! You save money for a rainy day but you don’t expect the rainy day to last six months.

‘Thankfully I’ve been able to borrow money from mates, my family and the bank and my wife is now very happy we can finally pay off the credit card!

The Kat & Alfie: Redwater star also confirmed he had signed up for the challenge in January when the show was still set to be filmed in its traditional location of Australia instead of North Wales’ Gwyrch Castle.

The media personality told added: ‘We got the call in January and I agreed to do it because it was the 20th one.

‘My kids were old enough to travel to Australia and they wanted to meet Ant and Dec! We were all really excited.’
