Shawn Mendes hints at the release of new music while dancing barefoot in a trio of videos

Shawn Mendes posted a trio of videos to his Instagram account on Friday morning.

The 22-year-old songwriter was seen enthusiastically singing in his car in his first clip, while his second and third showed him getting ready to work in a recording studio and dancing next to a swimming pool while barefoot.

Although none of the hitmaker’s videos featured any sound, they seemed to hint at the future release of new music.

Dropping hints: Shawn Mendes shared a trio of soundless videos to his Instagram account on Friday and seemingly teased the future release of new music

In his first video, Mendes kept it casual, as he wore a black zip-up sweater on top of a matching t-shirt while jamming out in his car.

The songwriter opted for a graphic-printed t-shirt in his second video, where he was seen clapping along to an unheard track.

He went barefoot in his final clip, although he stayed comfortable in a black undershirt and a pair of sweat pants while dancing by his pool.

The hitmaker also wrote a short message in the post’s caption that read: ‘New vibes got me like.’

Fans seemed frustrated they could not hear the music.

One said, ‘Don’t be shy, unmute the videos bestie.’ Another said, ‘Turn it up Mendes!’

The musician began his recording career at an early age and released his first studio album, Handwritten, when he was just 16 years old.

His second full-length release, entitled Illuminate, was made available to the public in 2016 and featured the chart-topping single Treat You Better.

Both of Mendes’ first two albums went on to reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart upon their respective debuts.

He also embarked on highly successful world tours in support of his studio efforts.

In 2018, he released a self-titled album that, like its predecessors debuted atop multiple charts and featured several hit singles.

His track In My Blood, which was featured on the project, was later nominated for the Grammy Award for Song Of The Year, although it ultimately lost to Childish Gambino’s This Is America.

The hitmaker’s most recent studio effort, entitled Wonder, was made available to the public in December of 2020 and again debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.

Mendes spoke about his artistic process during a recent interview with GQ, where he expressed that many of his finished products resulted from of a trial-and-error way of working.

‘There are so many instances during making an album when you want to drop an idea because it’s stupid or it’s not sounding great…But then it comes out on the other end and ends up being everything you wanted it to be,’ he said.

He also spoke about how he has come to dislike the commercial side of his career in the sense that, although he views himself as a songwriter, he has come to realize that being a hitmaker is a different occupation altogether.

Specifically, Mendes expressed that, ‘to make art in order to have people like it and purchase it becomes a very stressful and hard thing.’
