And Australian singer Sia became emotional on Tuesday while discussing the 19-year-old’s futures in Los Angeles – where she currently resides.
‘I’ve got these two children who could be f***king shot and killed tomorrow just for being black!’ Sia, 44, cried while speaking to DJ Zane Lowe on his Apple Music podcast.

Sia – whose real name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler – adopted two 18-year-old sons in 2019 because they were ‘ageing out of the foster care system’ and has since become a grandmother to ‘two babies’.
When Zane asked for Sia’s perspective on police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement in the United States, the songstress teared up as one of her sons fetched her a tissue box.
‘I’m going to cry, that’s what’s going to happen right now,’ she began trembling while making quick, sharp inhalations.
Through tears, Sia admitted: ‘I’m embarrassed that it took me to adopt two black sons to really understand what they go through on a daily basis.’

‘We should be addressing this more than anything else, more than any dumb movie I am putting out, or any music I’ve ever loved,’ she said passionately.
The Grammy-nominated artist said it was time to act and seek justice, and not just feel sad or guilty.
‘I know I’ve only ever experienced white privilege and I know that now and I’m fully aware… now I have these two black sons who tell me how it really us,’ she said.
Sia also recalled one emotional conversation she had with her children, during which she told them: ‘I don’t want to see you in prison.
‘With your history and the colour of your skin, I don’t want to see you as that five percent that ends up in prison for life. I don’t want that for you.’

Sia first announced she had adopted two sons during an interview with SiriusXM in late May.
The musician, who almost always covers her face in public to maintain her anonymity, smiled as she expressed her love for her new family.
The Adelaide-born singer did not reveal their names nor discuss them further.

Speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show last month, the notoriously private star said of her adopted kids: ‘They had extremely traumatic lives and I had the resources to adopt them.
‘These boys both had lived in about 18 homes each in their 18 years and never had any stability.
‘They had extremely traumatic lives and I had the resources to adopt them and give them the resources to deal with their trauma and any therapy for their problems and the difficulty they’ve faced.’
Sia said that being ‘newly rich’ was ‘really weird and fun’ and had given her opportunities to help others.

‘It means I can make a lot of peoples’ dreams come true, which is the best feeling ever, especially now I don’t drink or do drugs, so that’s the new high,’ she said.
Sia is currently isolating with her family in Los Angeles.
She had first mentioned being an adoptive mother in January, when she told GQ she had ‘just adopted a son’.
However, she did not disclose she had adopted two sons until four months later.
