‘I’m still learning how to be a mother’: Sia admits she regrets announcing that her adopted son welcomed two children as it ‘wasn’t her news to share’
Her delight was evident as she revealed she had become a grandmother at the age of 44 – just weeks after announcing she adopted two sons last year.
But a month and a half later, Sia has expressed regret over divulging that one of her adopted son’s had welcomed ‘two babies’, admitting that it ‘wasn’t her news to share.’
Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show on Monday, the Australian singer, 44, confessed that she recently realised that it was ‘her job to protect her children and not blab about what’s going on in their lives.’

When quizzed about her new responsibilities as a grandmother, Sia said: ‘I decided to stop talking about it.
‘I made a bit of a boo-boo because they’re my new children. I’ve only had them for a year. I’m such an open book that I forget not everyone else is.
‘While I didn’t get into trouble for blabbing about his [her son’s] children – I was peeing, which is where I have my best thoughts, and I realised that it was not my news to share with the world.’
Jackie agreed that she doesn’t often speak publicly about her nine-year-old daughter Catalina either.

Sia added: ‘I instantly realised I can’t talk about my children’s private lives. I’m just learning how to be a mother.’
The Chandelier hitmaker told DJ Zane Lowe on his Apple Music podcast in June: ‘My youngest son just had two babies. I’m a f**king grandma! I’m just immediately horrified. No, I’m cool.’
Sia first announced she had adopted two sons during an interview with SiriusXM in late May.
The musician, who almost always covers her face in public to maintain her anonymity, smiled as she expressed her love for her new family.

The Adelaide-born singer did not reveal their names nor discuss them further.
Speaking previously to The Kyle and Jackie O Show in June, the notoriously private star said of her adopted kids: ‘They had extremely traumatic lives, and I had the resources to adopt them.
‘These boys both had lived in about 18 homes each in their 18 years and never had any stability.
‘They had extremely traumatic lives and I had the resources to adopt them and give them the resources to deal with their trauma and any therapy for their problems and the difficulty they’ve faced.’
