Simon Cowell ‘is selling his £9million Los Angeles home as he wants to live a simpler life’

Simon Cowell is reportedly planning on selling his £9million Los Angeles mansion as he wants to live ‘a simpler life’ and ‘make new memories with his family’.

The media mogul, 60, bought the six-bed pad back in 2004 before he met his long-term partner Lauren Silverman, 42, and had his now six-year-old son Eric.

Although it is thought that he will part with this house, Simon is keeping hold of his £19million Malibu beachfront home, reports The Sun.

A source told the publication: ‘The LA house was his dream for a while but it holds one too many showbiz memories.

‘Now he has son Eric and long-term partner Lauren he wants to lead a simpler life and create new memories not revolving around rock ’n’ roll, TV or parties’.

MailOnline has contacted Simon’s representative for comment.

Simon’s LA home is in the Beverly Hills area and boasts a pool and a gym as well as a live-in butlers quarters.

He is also thought to have a spa at the house with a wet steam room and tanning salon, according to the Pinnacle List.

Although it is thought that he will try and sell this house, Simon is keeping hold of his £19million Malibu beachfront home.

He paid £19.5million for the house in 2017 which has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms spread over 10,000 square feet.

Simon also has two homes in London, worth around £25million, and a place in New York City.

It comes after Simon was said to be considering ‘laying down roots’ in Barbados, one of his favourite holiday spots.

A source told The Sun on Sunday last week: ‘Simon loves Barbados and is interested in laying down roots there. He would like to splash up to £10 million on a pad, with a beachfront view and plenty of guest rooms.

‘He knows a lot of the locals now so feels right at home and relaxed when he’s on the island.’

It has been a busy month for Simon, with it being announced two weeks ago that he had bought out Sony Music Entertainment’s share in their joint business venture after 15 years, giving him full control of his TV talent shows.

The music mogul’s new deal, which was struck for an undisclosed sum, will allow for contestants from such shows as the X Factor and Got Talent franchises to have more freedom in the record labels they subsequently sign deals with.

However, while Simon will retain TV rights, Sony will continue to wholly own rights to the music assets, which have included such global acts as One Direction, Little Mix, Susan Boyle, and Leona Lewis.

The Got Talent franchise is produced in 76 territories, while The X Factor airs in more than 130 territories around the globe.

Simon, who will transfer all TV rights to his Syco Entertainment company, said in a statement: ‘I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Rob [Stringer]and all of the Sony Music executives, artists and partners all over the world.

‘It’s been a unique partnership and Sony have always backed and supported me to create television formats.

‘The shows we created have found so many amazing artists over the years and so many of the various Sony labels all over the world have enabled so many of those artists to fulfil their dreams.

‘We have all shared some incredible achievements, and importantly we have had lots of fun. I won’t say this was an easy decision to make, however sometimes you have to personally support something you are so passionate about.

‘I’ve always believed it’s important to take on new goals in order to drive new ideas and creativity so I’m very excited to be taking an independent and creatively-led Syco Entertainment into the future.’

Stating that it was ‘simply the right thing’ for the businessman and TV personality to take control of the TV assets, Rob Stringer, chairman of Sony Music Group, said: ‘We are proud to continue to represent the Syco music catalogue and its artists.’
