Sir Mo Farah helps pal Joe Wicks achieve his fastest 5K run time EVER

He quickly became beloved amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic for providing the nation with daily YouTube workouts during both lockdowns.

And Joe Wicks sought out the help of his Olympian pal Sir Mo Farah as he was determined to smash his own fitness goal on New Year’s Eve.

In a video uploaded to Instagram on Thursday, the Body Coach explained he was determined to run 5K run in 19 minutes and 30 seconds before the start of 2021.

The fitness star, 34, seemed set to fail his final goal of the year as he admitted he was struggling to beat his best time of 19 minutes 38 seconds – irritatingly close to his goal.

So, Joe called the I’m A Celebrity star and long-distance runner, 37, to help him set his pace and smash his ambitious target.

As they warmed up, Mo challenged his pal to cut a massive 38 seconds off his time, despite Joe already improving from his first attempt of 22 minutes 14 seconds.

Joe explained: ‘Today, it’s my final run of 2020. I’ve called in a friend to help set a pace. If I don’t do it today, I am never going to do it.’

‘So those of you that might have guessed, it is the man himself Sir Mo Farah. So Mo my PB is 19 minutes and 30 seconds, what do you think you can get out of me around this park?’

To which Mo replied: ‘Let’s go for 19 minutes son.’

Joe also quipped that if he couldn’t achieve his fitness goal with the help of the Olympic gold medalist, would he ‘ever do it’.

Following the challenge, Joe reappeared on screen looking completely knackered and gasping for breath as he revealed his result to his 3.9million followers.

The YouTube star proudly said that he managed to cut his time by almost a minute, impressively running 5k in just 18 minutes and 45 seconds.

As he unveiled the news, pedestrians could be heard cheering him as he surprised park-goers with his famous choice of pacemaker.

Gushing about his success, Joe said: ‘I can’t believe that. That was my gold medal race, I did it in 18 minutes 45 seconds, that was me pushing myself to the max. Mo thank you mate, how did I do?’

With Mo positively responding: ‘Anything is possible in life, if you work hard.

‘Dig deep, put your head down and keep pushing through pal.’

Joe admitted that he was completely knackered after his ‘big leap’, having pushed himself ‘as hard’ as he ever has, while the Olympian didn’t seem to break a sweat.

He said on his Instagram Stories: ‘I was so proud that I was there all through lockdown doing those workouts even with a broken hand so the MBE is just a lovely icing on the cake if you like but thanks for all your comments, all your DMs.

He continued: ‘Thank you for your support and if we ever go into another lockdown I promise I will be back.’
