Spice Girls star Mel ‘C’ Chisholm says she is shocked by Australians stockpiling toilet paper amid coronavirus pandemic… and accuses them for starting a worldwide trend

Spice Girls star Mel ‘C’ Chisholm has been left gobsmacked by Australians who have been stockpiling toilet paper over fears of the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Friday, while promoting her new single Who I Am in the country, the 46-year-old accused Aussies of starting a worldwide trend.

Her comments came after radio co-host Kyle Sandilands asked Mel if she’d brought her own toilet paper to Australia due to the shortages.

‘I know! Well you can live without toilet paper,’ Mel replied in disbelief.

‘Well the thing is you’ve started a trend because now it’s happening in the UK as well,’ she continued.

‘So we’re right behind you. No pun intended.’

Last week, Mel revealed the real reason why the Spice Girls didn’t bring their reunion tour to Australia last year.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, she said: ‘Unfortunately, when it came to decision day [to tour Australia], someone wasn’t quite ready to continue,’ she said, without naming names.

‘[But] I would have been there in a heartbeat,’ she added.

She explained the megastars know they ‘owe our Australian fans a tour’ after generating plenty of excitement.

The Spice Girls’ reported plans to tour Australia and take on a Las Vegas residency are said to have been scrapped because of Geri Horner’s alleged feud with Mel B.

According to The Sun in October, Geri, 47, and Mel B, 44, failed to see eye-to-eye during their sold-out UK tour last year.

It lead to Geri’s refusal to hit the road, with the cancelled plans meaning losing out on an estimated earnings of £50million.

Melanie’s new single Who I Am came out on Friday.
