Stephen Mulhern stocks up on supplies at Poundland during UK COVID-19 lockdown… after being hilariously pranked by Ant and Dec

He was hilariously pranked by Ant and Dec on April Fool’s Day.

And Stephen Mulhern appeared to have got over the elaborate stunt as he stocked up on essential supplies during the UK COVID-19 lockdown.

The magician and presenter, 42, was spotted heading to Poundland and other shops in London on Thursday.

Stephen looked stylish in a pair of dark jeans, white trainers and a navy blue Barbour jacket as he also made a phone call.

In March, Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered the immediate closure of all non-essential shops and threatened people with fines or even arrest if they do not ‘stay at home’.

Those wishing to leave their homes can only do so in order to collect food, medical supplies and essential items.

Britons can also leave their properties for one form of exercise a day, such as a run, walk, or cycle – alone or with members of their household.

On Wednesday, for April Fool’s Day, Stephen revealed pals and co-stars Ant and Dec had pranked him.

The TV presenter revealed he had asked the Geordie duo to send him an In for a Penny board to promote the new series this Saturday.

Yet Ant and Dec ended up sending him every single board from series one and even did a knock and run, as Stephen opened the door to find no one there but the signs.

He joked: ‘This is not a normal working relationship, leave me alone, unbelievable.’

It comes after it was announced that Britain’s Got Talent will have an online spin-off series featuring unseen auditions from the new season.

The eight mini episodes will be released on ITV Hub minutes after the main show ends, to showcase some of the more bizarre and wacky acts who auditioned for the show.

It comes after spin-off Britain’s Got More Talent was sadly axed by ITV last October after 12 years on air, with sources claiming bosses were hoping to attract a younger audience by focusing on social media.

The show, hosted by Stephen, served as a supplement to the main ITV series and regularly gave viewers a look at some of the more offbeat auditions.

But bosses now want to focus more social media, with a source telling The Sun: ‘Stephen is a much-loved member of the BGT family and everyone loved him on the show.

‘He is still incredibly busy, with lots of exciting projects for ITV. Behind the scenes, executives decided it was the right time to move on.

‘It will be sad to bring the curtain down on it after so many years of laughs. But it is important to move with the times, and the reality is younger audiences who once watched it now consume a lot more of their content online.

‘The plan is to focus more on the digital platforms — clips for social media and things like that.’
