Strictly’s Ranvir Singh speaks out on Giovanni Peniche romance rumours

Ranvir Singh has set the Strictly scoreboard alight with her sizzling routines.

But the Good Morning Britain presenter has laughed off rumours that she is enjoying a romance with her professional dance partner Giovanni Peniche, 30, insisting it would be ‘a bloody miracle’ if she fell victim to the famous Strictly curse.

In a new interview with OK! Magazine Ranvir reveals that while there is no hope of a Strictly romance, Giovanni and the partnership have come at the perfect time for her following her divorce. 

‘Sometimes in life, you feel like you’re going against the tide somehow. You’re trying to get things done and nothing goes the way you want it. And then out of nowhere, something changes and it all works out,’ she gushed of this period in her life after splitting from her ex husband, with whom she shares son Tushaan, eight, a few years ago.

‘I definitely feel like this was the right time for me to do Strictly. Things feel like they’re flowing in my life.’

Ranvir and Giovanni hve notable chemistry, which viewers and the judges have repeatedly commented on. But the star says the intimacy stays on the dancefloor. 

‘If I got hit by the curse, it would be a bloody miracle!’ she insisted. ‘Oh my God, that would be hilarious. Do you know most of the dancers were born in 1990 or something? I’m old enough to be their mother! It’s very optimistic and complimentary that anyone would think I would be struck by the curse.’

The star was full of compliments for her Italian stallion partner though, gushing about his ‘sizzling’ talent.   

‘It doesn’t matter whether I’m in the room or not, he’s sizzling away! The dances are all about being romantic and, of course, we have to make them convincing,’ she explained.

‘Shirley Ballas pointed out that when you’re doing ballroom, you have to basically attach your ribcage to your partner while dancing.

‘That’s very intimate, isn’t it? It can feel a bit awkward getting that close to someone. Then your face is right in their face, too. Oh my goodness, it’s taken a bit of getting used to because you can’t avoid it.’ 

Two weeks ago, during Movie Week, Ranvir and Giovanni soared to the top of the leaderboard after stunning with an incredible Foxtrot to a Jennifer Hudson hit from Dreamgirls, earning them the highest score of the series so far. 

But during last Saturday’s show, the couple slipped down the leaderboard, landing in the bottom three.
