Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac takes a savage swipe at coronavirus denier Pete Evans

The claws are out: Channel Seven turns on disgraced ex-MKR judge Pete Evans as Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac BRUTALLY mocks the coronavirus denier (with the help of his cat Coco)

Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac has taken a brutal swipe at Pete Evans, after the disgraced celebrity chef encouraged Victorians not to wear masks during the stage-four lockdown.

The 38-year-old funnyman shared a photo to Instagram on Wednesday of himself in a novelty face mask while holding his pet cat, Coco.

Coco wasn’t wearing a mask because domestic animals don’t have to, but Sam joked that his furry friend was a COVID-19 denier.

‘The awkward moment you discover your cat is an anti-masker. Well sorry Coco, sorry you weren’t rescued by Pete Evans,’ he wrote in the caption.

Sam’s scathing post all but confirms that Evans is no longer on friendly terms with Channel Seven, the network which employed him for 10 years.

The 47-year-old lost his $800,000-a-year job as a judge on My Kitchen Rules in May as his once-harmless conspiracy theories veered into dangerous territory.

For years before his sacking, it had been rumoured that Seven bosses viewed Evans as an expensive liability. Meanwhile, his former MKR co-star Manu Feildel apparently thought he was ‘stranger than strange’.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Seven for comment.

Last month, Evans shared a Facebook post encouraging people in Victoria not to wear face masks after Premier Daniel Andrews made them mandatory in public spaces.

The anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist – who has falsely claimed the pandemic is a ‘hoax’ – urged Victorians to challenge their $200 fines in court.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Evans said it was ‘far too expensive’ for the state government to defend the fines, making the rule effectively meaningless.

This ridiculous advice prompted backlash from sensible Australians, who labelled him a ‘danger to humanity’.

In his original post, Evans wrote: ‘Free legal advice to all Victorians. Don’t wear a mask. Get a $200 fine then elect to have it determined in court.

‘Every single one of you 6.359 million Victorians can challenge the fines in court. The Victorian Government won’t fight you in court. It’s far too expensive for them to do so.’

The mask rule was enforced across the state of Victoria on Monday, August 3.

People who do not wear masks in public face fines of $200, unless they have been granted an exemption.

Wearing a face mask can help prevent the spread of coronavirus because it limits infections spread by airborne transmission.

Each time an individual coughs or sneezes, they release germs into the air and this can infect others around them.
