Susan Sarandon puts her massive NYC duplex with breathtaking views on the market for $7.9 million

Susan Sarandon lived in the massive pre-war duplex in Chelsea for 29 years.

And the Oscar winning actress has put her New York City home, which spans 6,061 square feet and two floors, on the market for $7.9 million.

The 73-year-old movie star’s expansive mid-century style pad features scenic views of the city, including the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center, has five bedrooms, 5.5 baths, two kitchens and plenty of outdoor space.

The enormous loft property, which Susan purchased in 1991, is located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan on the seventh and eighth floor of a co-op apartment building.

The open concept home has a large corner library that can be adapted into a sixth bedroom if needed; the loft features hardwood flooring, air conditioning, high ceilings, a full laundry room and one fireplace. 

The property, listed by Sotherby’s International Realty’s Nikki Field and Mara Flash Blum, merges two floors with a custom curved staircase.

The private gallery foyer, on the eighth floor, is reach by a key-locked elevator entrance with an open kitchen, dining area, lounge area and large windows to take in the incredible view of the Big Apple.

The windows on the South side of the duplex span 60 feet wide.

The star used the seventh floor for a private area for guests as it features a second kitchen, three bedrooms, two baths, a den/playroom and a 43-foot terrace as well as a wood-burning fireplace.

In addition, there is key locked elevator access for the guests to the seventh floor.

The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a soaking tub, dressing area and dressing room, as well as a private balcony; there is a corner office/library on the eighth floor.

Susan styled one full bath in the loft with cobalt blue paint and calls it the Academy Award bath, according to WSJ; the bathroom features her Oscar Award and SAG Award for Dead Man Walking, as well as her 1995 Glamour Woman of the Year Award.

She told the outlet: ‘I thought it was kind of funny to keep them in the bathroom. When people come out of the bathroom, I expect them to be laughing but they don’t say a thing. Maybe they think I’m taking it seriously.’

She raised her three children in the duplex, all of whom have moved out; she told WSJ the home is too big for her needs.

Susan has a daughter named Eva Amurri, 35, with ex-partner Franco Amurri; she also has two sons Jack, 31, and Miles, 28, with ex-partner Tim Robbins, whom she was in a relationship with from 1988 until 2009.
