Tamzin Outhwaite ‘is set to compete on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing’

Tamzin Outhwaite is set to compete on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, according to reports.

The former EastEnders actress, 49, is thought to be in advanced talks with BBC bosses and could sign her contract as early as next week along with the likes of Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing. 

A source told The Sun: ‘What with Covid-19, everything is all still very much touch and go, and plans are changing on a weekly basis.

‘But nearly all the celebs are in the final stages of negotiations now, and Jamie is fully on board… 

‘Tamzin is a perfect fit for the show. The BBC loves an EastEnder and she has a background in performing and dance, so she is really excited to see how she fares.’ 

The soap star previously revealed that her two daughters, Florence, 11, and Marnie, eight, desperately wanted her to appear on the hit show.

But Tamzin, who first appeared in Albert Square in 1998, admitted: ‘I think I’m a bit old. I’m not sure my body could take it.’

It comes after Tamzin detailed the challenges of motherhood amid the coronavirus pandemic in a candid Instagram.

The actress shared a snap of herself hugging her daughter Marnie as she admitted she struggled to adjust to homeschooling her children before also crediting the lockdown for spending more quality time with her family.

The media personality penned: ‘There have been tantrums, power struggles, many tears, homeschooling fails,separate isolation (generally on a device in a strop) & arguments… but I have to remind myself of the positives.’ [sic]

Sharing the pros, the soap star added: ‘…singing, the dancing, playing cluedo, riding bikes, gardening,dog walks, cooking,the creativity, and more… ‘ [sic]

The thespian, who is dating Tom Child, 29, also admitted she misses her busy acting career, and claimed the current status of the nation’s schooling system will take a toll on her kids’ education. 

‘I have realised I love and miss my job very much and I’m a rubbish teacher’, Tamzin candidly explained, before urging her followers to take care of their mental health amid the global crisis. 

She ended her post: ‘Of course they will be behind on school curriculum in September, we ALL will. I am really just trying to keep us all alive,protect our mental health, and keep this ship afloat….

The screen star was previously married to Tom Ellis, with whom she shares her daughters Florence and Marnie. 

The TV star’s post came after she explained fears that a number of romantic relationships may not go the distance as couples isolate together amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Tamzin – who went into isolation with Tom on March 16 after the couple displayed symptoms – believes the crisis will prove to be a testing time for couples as they potentially spend months locked in together.

She told The Mirror: ‘You do wonder when people come out of ­lockdown how many people will go, ‘That’s not for me.’ Or if others will propose and think, ‘If I can do that, I know I can be with you forever.”

However, when asked by the publication if she believed her own partner of two years had any plans to pop the big question, the blonde laughed as she responded: ‘I am not talking about that.’  

Elsewhere in the interview, the Ilford native insisted she’s far from bothered by the 21-year age gap between herself and her personal trainer beau, who she she began dating after meeting him in a yoga studio. 

‘It’s not an issue,’ she said. ‘Once other people get over it, it’s not an issue for them. It’s something if it works, if the energy of it works, your ­connection works then nothing else really matters.’
