The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne reflects on juggling motherhood with her business – and admits her fiancé Matty Johnson is ‘sometimes on the back-burner’

Laura Byrne is no stranger to juggling motherhood with family life, as she balances a jewellery business and popular podcast with raising her one-year-old daughter, Marlie-Mae.

And the 31-year-old, who is pregnant with her second child, has dispelled the societal expectation that women can ‘have it all’ in their personal and professional lives.

The fiancée of 2017 Bachelor Matty Johnson revealed on her Life Uncut podcast: ‘I strongly feel now, after juggling the last year of my life, that you can have it all – but you can’t have it all at the same time.’

‘There has to be something that gives,’ she added. ‘And for me, work has been something that I’ve really struggled with over the last year.’

The reality star explained that despite running her Sydney jewellery store, ToniMay, and recording a regular podcast, she has prioritised her daughter for the past year.

As a result, her relationship with Matty has sometimes suffered.

‘And sometimes I feel like my relationship is the thing that takes the back-burner from time to time because Matt use to be my absolute number one priority,’ she said.

Laura recalled that prior to starting a family, she and her fiancé would spend ‘every single second of free time together’.

‘Now there’s Matt, there’s work, there’s Marlie, there’s physically being pregnant,’ she added.
