The BRITs reveal ‘budget’ goodie bag worth just £300

And the award for least extravagant gift goes to! The BRITs reveal ‘worst goodie bag in history’ worth £300 rather than its usual thousands after ‘generous sponsors’ were battered by the pandemic

  • Brits handing out only three items to presenters, performers and award winners
  • Headphones worth £65 and two wireless speakers will be included in the bag
  • The value is a massive comedown from last year’s version worth thousands
  • Sources say it’s a ‘covid comedown’ as firms have been battered by pandemic

BRIT Awards bosses are seemingly handing out the stingiest goodie bag in the ceremony’s history worth only £300 after corporations were battered by the Covid pandemic.

Guests including Coldplay and host Jack Whitehall will get a measly three items in what is being branded a ‘budget coronavirus comedown’.

An official announcement on the Brits 2021 web page about the contents is headlined ‘Want to get a peek into the Official BRITs Goodie Bag’ – but the description of the gifts is extremely brief.

The web page adds: ‘The BRITs Goodie Bag will be given to the hosts, guest presenters, performers and award winners on the big night.

‘The lucky recipients will each receive the following items: Headphones – ‘”BL EVEREST ELITE 700″, Wireless Bluetooth Speaker – “JBL XTREME”, TV Mini SoundBar – “JBL BOOST TV”.

The headphones are £65, the Bluetooth speaker £149.99 and the mini TV soundbar £89 – a total of £303.99.

Notably absent is the usual treats of champagne, chocolates and shimmering accessories often found in the gift bag.

A source said: ‘This must be the worst goodie bag in the BRITs’ history, but it’s a sign of the times. Usually generous sponsors and companies have taken a massive hit in profits due to Covid, so comedowns like this are to be expected.’

MailOnline has contacted BRITs representatives for comment.

Last year’s VIP BRITs goodie bag included a stay at either the five-star Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa or the Cliveden House Hotel.

There was also a £1,000 facial, a string of spa and beauty treatments – including products from Tom Ford and Michael Kors – along with cashmere clothing and a mass of Sony products.

About 4,000 people will attend the BRITs at London’s O2 arena tomorrow – using about one fifth of the venue’s capacity.

More than half of the tickets have been given to key workers from greater London.

Taylor Swift, 31, is to become the first female winner of the Global Icon award, but is not expected to perform.

Other performers on the night include Dua Lipa, 25, The Weeknd, 31, Olivia Rodgrigo, 18, and Headie One, 26.

Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, 36 – real name Rory Graham – will also play his latest single Anywhere Away From Here, accompanied by the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.
